Editorial review from Citysearch 9/29/2013

I'm very happy to have found a mechanic that listens to me, treats me with respect, and isn't trying to gouge my budget with costly repairs, and unnecessary and unneeded work. I'll be returning for whatever needs to be done on my vehicle and if for some reason, they aren't able to do it, I'll trust where they'll send me.\r \r What a great bunch of people to work with - if you go there, I know they'll take care of you! more

OWNER CURSED AT ME 2/9/2012

My car was taken to this shop for an estimate. I can not believe I'm having to write this, considering it's 2012. First off, I had my vehicle removed from this shop because the owner and his technician said that they didn't believe my vehicle had the damage that had actually happened to it, which is simply wrong. Then, the owner of this shop, Jeff, called me up the next day and accused me of having written a previous poor review of his shop and telling me how terrible that was, and how he wanted me to remove it because he ""has to feed 5 families from that shop."" I told him that if I had written a bad review, it would have been because it was deserved. After he tried for several minutes to convince me that I was wrong, he asked me ""Is your husband going to be home this afternoon? Can I talk to him about this?"" ARE YOU KIDDING ME??? I firmly explained to Jeff that I'm a big girl, I make my own decisions, and my husband would not be speaking with him on a business matter between myself and Jeff's shop. I mentioned that this is the 21st century and I thought that type of good old boy mentality was gone. At that point, Jeff called me (and I quote) ""you fat f#@*ing c*#t"" and hung up the phone. I am sure glad my phone has the record feature. more

TERRIBLE! RUDE, COCKY OWNER! 2/7/2012

TERRIBLE! RUDE OWNER! Never go there! Told both me and my insurance agent that a transmission cooling filter was ""unrelated to the transmission"" and so I should not take a photo of how badly damaged it was because it was irrelevant to my insurance claim. (Turns out, it was THE key evidence for my claim.) Somebody explain to me how a transmission shop could ""mistake"" a transmission cooling filter for something entirely unrelated? Wait, I know -- it's not possible. more

Fixed my transmission, Then over-filled it causing damage 3/2/2010

I took my car there a year ago to rebuild the bottom end of my transmission. 3 months later, My transmission started kicking again and i assumed it was due to shoddy work. I finally took my car in for a full check up and found out that the reason it had issues was because it they over-filled the transmission fluid by a lot, which was damaging my transmission. I have a newer Volkswagen, so i have to pay to have the fluid checked, Hence why it took so long for me to figure it out. I was forced to go to canby in the first place (Local dealer sold me a car with a bum transmission, They agree'd to pay for half of it as long as they chose who fixed it.. Obviously, they went with the cheapest place in they could find). I do not recommend them at all, Not until they train the employees better so they don't accidently cause damage to vehicles due to ignorance. Pros: Cheapest in town Cons: Cheap for a reason. Dont expect the work to last more

Great Customer Service 9/25/2009

I had an excellant experience at Canby Transmission when I had to have my transmission rebuilt. The front office guys (especially Hal) were friendly and quick to answer all my questions and explained in detail what was wrong with my SUV. I really appreciated the free estimate and how nice everyone was to my three children while we waited. The office men spoke with my husband and my step father to make sure everyone knew what was being done and what it would cost. I felt the customer service and the quick follow up phone calls were above and beyone my expectations. I would highly recommend having this company take a look at your vehicle. Thanks Pros: Front office guys were helpful and easy to understand. more

Rude Owner, Lousy costumer service, NOT RECOMMENDED 9/15/2008

On september 11th, my sister and I went to Canby Transmission to get her car checked out (for free) because it was making a nasty sound. We just wanted to know what was wrong with it. So my sister gave the guy at the front desk her keys and he drove it around back. Then the guy that had checked it out came to the front and told the other guy that it is leaking from the axle housing and one of the bearings inside is bad, so it would need an overhaul. We got an estimate from the guy and then left. It estimated between $1,000-$1,200. If that wasn't bad enough. On Sunday the 14th, my sister was cleaning her car out and she was moving some cd's in her door pocket when out dropped the lever for the hood of the car that they had obviously broke off and did not bother telling her. So she called right away and left them a message telling them what happened. They got back to my sister on monday the 15th and told her they didn't know who was working on her car that day and to bring in the paper work. We go over there to try and resolve the problem. And the owner said can I help you and my sister told him what was going on and he asked the other guy who had worked on her car and he said the name so the owner went to talk to him. The owner came out and said that the guy admitted it, so he told my sister to go get one and we will put it on for you. Then he proceeded to tell my sister that she was lucky she didn't get charged the first time ( even though it was a free estimate). He was rude and cocky. I wil never go back there. And neither should anyone else. If you don't want your stuff broken. Cons: Rude people more
