Great drinks, food and service 5/20/2011

Not sure where the rest of you are eating but I love Campo Verde. I go for the margaritas and the nachos and the service has never been bad. This place is my favorite spot after a long week at work. In fact, I'm ready for margarita madness tonight! more

AWFUL! 1/4/2010

This place is awful. Service was terrible, they seem to have no idea what mexican food costs on the rest of the planet (a 2 enchilada plate was 13.00), the waiter refused to bring our party another even though we were only half way through our meal (it was 8:30 pm), there are 10 billion Christmas lights all over the walls. The whole experience was complete junk. DO NOT EAT HERE! Try Cafe Acapulco, Mijos, or Fuzzy's. They know how to treat a customer and have better food and prices. more

Fun! 10/23/2009

I love it! Love the train and the lights, too! more

What a scam! 10/8/2009

I was at Campo Verde with 8 people at our table. When the check arrived it had an automatic 20% gratuity added to it. We only saw our server (maybe) 3 times the entire meal. We even had to pour our tea re-fills! Two people at the table had sodas and their soda glasses were never refilled. I complained to the Manager who threatened to call the Police on me if I didn't pay the extra gratuity, and told me to call the owner. He told me to open my eyes and look at the (small print) on the back of the menu. He refused to allow me to pay a smaller amount for the tip stating that "it was policy". So, I called the owner, Mr. Williams, and he said that he would call me back after he could "find out what's going on around here". He never called me back. In fact, over a two week period I called him 3 more times, each time he stated that he would call me back after "he found out what was going on". So, horrible service from the waitress, and an owner with ample opportunity to correct the issue but obviously won't is how Campo Verde chooses to take care of customers? Me, and 7 others who were at my table will NEVER go back to Campo Verde. more

You call this tortilla soup 1/16/2007

My family and I have dined at Campo Verde for nearly twenty years and we have always enjoyed the food and the atmosphere; my grandson, who is now eight, has enjoyed the train for his entire life. Last night, my wife and I each ordered the "bottomless bowl" of tortilla soup. What we got was a "bottomless pit" of nasty gruel. The soup appeared to be a white, grainy mish-mash of what was left over in the disposal. On the bottom of the bottomless bowl was a gathering of nasty green peas and corn. The taste was nothing I had ever experienced before - and that is NOT a compliment. To make matters worse, when I notified our waitress of the problem, she apologized and presented us with our bill.... and walked away. At the cash register, I repeated my displeasure to the cashier. As she processed my credit card, she said, "So, do you want me to tell my manager?" Duh? Yes, please. Very disappointing. more

Cool atmosphere, good value, but eh on the food. 3/20/2006

I have to admit this place gets a 5 on ambiance and originality and the price are fair. But I was not too impressed with the food nor the service. I did however adore the free chips and salsa and the ice tea would have been bottomless if the waitress ever checked on us, but she didn't. This is a tex mex joint as most places here in Tx are and its okay I suppose but take away the funky decorations and lights and all that jazz and I don't think they would have a clientele. I have gone several times and even brought family and friends, I just dont hype the food. At the register there are also pralines, yup thoes are good. more

Yummy Tex-Mex w/ Fiesta Atmosphere! 9/13/2005

Really a Monument in Arlington, I have eaten at this restaurant over the past 20 years and LOVE IT! They have the most unique atmosphere I have ever seen. Year-Round the inside is decorated with thousands of little Christmas lights and neon signs. From Nov-Feb thousands of more lights are added inside and out for the Holidays...This place really Lights Up! The food is inexpensive and they have about 15 different Combination Platters to chose from. The enchiladas are really good, especially the cheese which are covered in a queso sauce (yummy!) If you are feeling adventurous this is one of the only places in Arlington that you can dine on something a little more exotic such as Rattlesnake, Ostrich, Elk or even Buffalo! There is an American Menu as well that serves up the old Hamburger of Chicken Strips if need be. So, with a little something for everone, great flavor, great prices, and the most "Dazzling" Atmosphere around....I would definitely recommend Campos and tell everyone to give it a Try!! more

A restaurant you can take kids to, and still feel like an adult 7/7/2005

Campo Verde is a find--a restaurant that you can take kids to and still feel like an adult. There is so much there to keep a child's interest, from the aged Don Quixote statues at the door to the train that circles the outer walls. Twinkle lights give an air of romance and whimsy, and the food is wonderful. You will want to come back just for the chips and salsa, which are truly original (the best chips I've had anywhere). The menu items are slightly more than at other Mexican restaurants, but you get a lot for what you pay for, and it is delicious. more
