Editorial review from Citysearch 1/25/2013

Turned into another money grab poor workmanship shop. #1: Took my F250 in to fix a fuel bowl leak and Idle problem. Cambridge wanted $770.34 to correct the fuel bowl leak, replace fuel return lines, pressure regulator and electrical harness but could not tell me this would fix the problem and that more $$$ would be required if that didn't work. I told Tony I was surprised Cambridge did not have better diagnostics and I declined the work. With a little research on the internet I found a common problem was a bad IPC sensor. I bought one from Grande Truck Center for $143.64 and installed it myself. I tightend the hoses on the fuel bowl and I'm up and running with no problems. #2: Went to replace the thermostat on my Malibu last night and noticed the air intake duct to throttle body was loose and the air filter housing was laying there unsecured. The air filter housing had been forcibly taken out without first removing the 2 screws and rubber grommets. I went back through my service records and found where I paid Cambridge $327.70 on 10/1/12 to flush the transmission. The air filter housing and intake duct had been removed to access the transmission vent/fill cap. It appears the mechanic did not take time to properly remove and replace the air filter housing and intake duct. I've spent a lot of $ at Cambridge over the years but that has come to an end. It seems after Mr. Gehrlein passed Cambridge took a turn for the worse. I sure miss Steve. more

Ethanol Question 2/27/2011

Steve; Ive been wanting to ask you guys a question thats been eating at me, for 2 yrs now or since the Gov't decided to put alcohol in the gas, I started to add a little Marvel mystery oil in it also, will that hurt the motor, I mix it for my tractors, mowers and Gold Wing and my trucks and cars, were seeing alot of problems around here with fuel pumps and sending units going bad, and its tearing up older motors in diesel trucks, do you think they designed it to do that, getting the older vehicles off the road , Ya know cash for clunkers went over so well, I don't trust the Gov't. after 28 yrs in it. Another car show I listen to out of Orlando he said yesterday on the show to mix 1oz. to every 5 gal of Amzoil 100-1 synthetic 2 stroke outboard oil ,because that will mix with the alcohol , this may be something you can get your R&D Team on,after all you are the experts, thats why I never miss a show , except when KTSA stream is down , which here lately it is quite a bit. Thanks Steve. more

Question about my Car 2/17/2011

Hey Guys. This is not really a review as it is a question. more

Couldn't fix my horn. 6/5/2009

I can't explain it in 2000 words. They wanted wanted to order a part that my truck didn't need and charged me for labor and diagnostics. After waiting over a year for them to get the part calling them 2 or three times and never getting a return call I took it apart my self and found out that the mount that holds the switches and contact plate was out of adjustment and the reason they couldn't get the part is because the part doesn't wear out. Beside that, that was the whole problem the contacts were not touching. See details at my blog on myspace. My handle is cactushinge. Google will point to my site after putting in cactushinge Pros: Great talk radio show Cons: Lousy service more

Best auto repair shop 6/2/2008

I took my vehicle to the dealer twice and they were not able to fix it. I heard about Cambridge Auto Center from listening to the owner's radio show on KTSA 550. I took my car there and they were able to find the problem and fix it. I will never go back to the dealer again for auto repair. more
