great salads! 9/20/2007

not sure what the other two reviewers were talking about, but i had a salad and it was excellent!!! it was 2:00 in the afternoon on a thursday and i thought for sure the place would have slowed down by then, but it was still jumping from lunch. i was VERY impressed with the vegetable salad! it was pricey, but what do you expect from a museum cafe?!?!?! i knew my salad would at least be $10. oh, and although a couple of the floors of the museum were closed for construction (will re-open oct. 8th, 07), the floors that were left open were well worth it! more

Possibly the worst cafe in town 9/1/2007

Deplorable service, often not merely inadequate, but actually insulting. Not up to the standards of even the most basic cafe, and it purports to serve an upwardly mobile and/or tourist clientele. This is no way to represent out city to out-of-towners. Food is merely adequate, and dramatically overpriced for the neighborhood. Serving personnel have obviously been told to treat the customers like street-people. Perhaps because that's what THEY were before they were mysteriously hired by one of our leading cultural institutions. Thumbs WAY down, and no stars for this disaster. more

Overpriced and not so good 3/29/2006

I had lunch with friends and I ordered the chicken panini. While my friend waited for her ham panini to be grilled, they quickly produced my order - I looked at the plate and observed that it was cold. When I inquired, they said it is a ""grilled chicken"" panini; so the chicken is grilled, not the sandwich. Is it me, or did they just serve me a grilled chicken sandwich? When it says panini, doesn't one assume that the bread and the fillings are grilled? Anyway, I ended up eating my lukewarm grilled chicken within two slices of cold bread and almost no dressing. It was quite dry. I didn't even touch the oil soaked potato chips and the single slice of limp pickle. I would have had a much more satisfying lunch if I walked over to Chevy's next door. Oh well. Pros: Location, Quick Cons: Overpriced, mediocre food more
