Cafe Taipei is a very nice place to eat. It has friendly staff and a nice owner. EVerytime me and my family go eat there she always stops to say hello.

I eat at Cafe Taipei pretty regularly. This was the first time I had a meal delivered from there. I hate to say it, but I was pretty disappointed. I won't do take out again, only dine-in. more

Not the worst, but close. Dumplings were horrible. more

Gummy thick greasy dumplings; overly dry rice, just generally nasty food. more

Usually when I order from this restaurant the food is pretty good. I ordered the chicken broccoli, the broccoli was very tough and unchewable. Not crispy and steamed as it is supposed to be. more

Food Poisoning 4/20/2011

We ( 6 people)went to Cafe Taipei on Sunday 4/17/11 around 3:00pm and ordered the Orange Chicken, Kung Pao Chicken, Fried Rice, Taipei Platter, Shrimp in Lobster Sauce, Wonton Soup. By Monday night, 4/18/11 around 6:00pm 4 of the 6 that went started vomited constantly and had diarrhea. By 11pm, we had to go to the emergency room due to our symptoms. We were diagnosed with food poisoning. This is the only food we had during the whole day with the except of cereal and milk from home. I will not be coming back to this restaurant ever again nor will I be recommending it. more

BEST CHINESE ON WEST SIDE 3/30/2010

I have been eating here for years! Every friend I have taken here loves this place. Best kung pao and egg drop soup I have had. It is definitely Tex-Chinese and not ""authentic. "" But if you love Moo Goo, Kung Pao, General Tso's, and Moo Shoo then this is the place for you. Pros: EXCELLENT KUNG PAO BEEF, EGG DROP SOUP Cons: NONE! more

Food is nothing related to Taipei 10/24/2008

Went to this places because of its name and was expecting authentic Taiwanese cuisine, but turned out to be over priced westernized Chinese food. The pepper steak I ordered was mediocre... not spicy at all, but sweet and sour. Hot and sour soup was disappointing, too. Egg roll never came to our table. Waitress knows only little english and mandarin chinese... Pros: Parking, Ambience Cons: Food, Service more

Haven't had a bad dish yet. 10/4/2006

This is one of our favorite Chinese restaurants in Houston. We even drive from NW Houston to dine there. Our favorite is the Shreaded Pork with Garlic Sauce. more

Very friendly staff, simple but fresh, clean Chinese food 8/22/2006

Staff was *very* friendly, glad to see us, and seemed to know many of the dinner regulars. Food was 'straight up' Chinese-style, but very well executed, fresh and subtle. Didn't see much on the menu that really sparked our interest, but we enjoyed what we ordered, except for the requested extra garlic on the sautéed spinach. We must have thrown the cook a little, as we got thick chunks of barely cooked garlic. Won't be making special requests again, but by the look of the clientele, the food really pleases those without really high expectations. Well above the average quality, and thoroughly recommended for 'safe' US-style Chinese dining. Not expensive, but clean and efficient. Nice booths, but air not moving much, so we got a little uncomfortable. Pros: Fresh, simple food, friendly efficient staff Cons: Lacklustre menu more

Great Chinese 8/1/2004

You can tell the quality of a restaurant by the number of cars in the parking lot. This place always has cars in front of it. If you come here for lunch, come early so you don't have to wait, and you can find a place to park. It's hard to find a non-buffet chinese restaurant that is not overpriced that serves great food. This place is it. The sauces are excellent. Lots of dinner choices, even a vegetarian menu. Specials include choice of soup, rice an egg roll, (and crab puff if dinner). Very affordable. I wouldn't recommend for groups because the dining room is not very big. Pros: attentive staff, lunch&dinner specials, huge menu more
