Best Location of Them All -- Friends of Dorothy, Must GO! 7/23/2011

Every single time my partner and I are craving some Mexi meat, we run over to this particular Cafe Rio location because the service is superb. They consistently give a little extra meat over the other locations! I realize they don't know us by name (yet), but they certainly remember us and are always nice to us. The grilled chicken burrito is my favorite sans cheese, and my partner loves chicken tortilla soup (he's on a diet). The mint limeade is superb. Oh my gosh. I always refill my cup just before leaving, and we take it home and use it as a mojito mixer. Best ever. more

Yawn. Nothing special here. 6/17/2009

This place sells sweet pork and chicken burritos and taco salads. They don't do Mexican spices, but they do a lot of brown sugar. Lines are long. Try beto's instead if you want Mexican fast food. (Of course, the red iguana if you want great Mexican at a real restaurant). Pros: nothing is horrible Cons: nothing is worth waiting for more

There goes your time at the gym!!!!! 10/13/2008

If you are looking to stay fit and keep off the unwanted pounds do not go to any Cafe Rio. The food there is loaded with fat, carbs, etc. We went for the first time moving to the state and watched what they call sweet pork being cooked in what looked like a pound of butter and tasted like a quart of sugar had been added and then taken to the line. Even the shredded beef. We watched the so called made in house meat ""that was in a bag"" reheated and cooked in butter again and brought out to the line. We could see the butter in the shredded chicken juice floating on the top. We asked for some info on fat grams and carbs no help from the company there. The employees just acted like what a stupid question. Sorry we do not see what is so great about the food and the almost 45 minute wait in line Cons: Food Employees more

Great Food, On busy nights or wekends call your order in. 7/29/2006

Great food, a little ridiculous pricing on sides of dressing, but other than that not much negative to say/ Pros: good food Cons: long lines, charges too much for sides of Tomatilio more

Consistently Good 7/26/2006

When I want a burrito, I go to Cafe' Rio and order the shredded beef burrito enchilada style (black beans, hot sauce please!). The food is consistently good even if there is a wait. I've started ordering ""to go"" so I can waltz in and grab my burrito and go back to work without waiting in the line... I know people get irritated by waiting but I'd much rather wait for good food than go somwhere that's empty and have bad food. Pros: Good value, friendly staff, consistent food Cons: Lines can be long more

Cafe Rio or Cafe Gringo 3/17/2006

Though the food is edible, it is light fare. If you want spicy, this is not the place for you. The food is very Americanized. Too much salad and not enough traditional fare. Cons: Slow, Too Tex Mex more

Lost it in all the success 9/4/2004

Unfortunately, Cafe Rio is a victim of its own success. They have become so desensitized to the sheer volume of their business that they are cavalier about turning away business. Try a lunch-time phone in. The message will tell you all the things you cant do. If/when you reach a live person again, apathetic and desensitized to the guest. While we love the food, this is a very easily copied business model. Bring on the competition. Oh by the way, they are almost paranoid that someone with take this idea. No cameras, the staff will make you feel unwelcome if you are taking it all in. Sorry folks, what started as a great mom-n-pop concept has clearly outgrown the level of expertise of the operators. We don't mind waiting but remember this: competition is coming! We hope! Pros: Fair Value, Good overall food Cons: , Attitude, Consistency more

There's a reason for the line 4/5/2004

At most times of the day you'll find yourself at the end of a very long line when you walk inside a Cafe Rio. Some people tend to be discouraged by that, but not me. I find it comforting, actually. I think any place that is so popular you have an inevitable 20 minute wait in line must be a winner. Cafe Rio's food tends to lean towards the ""fresh mex"" trend, and in my opinion, it's the leader in that category. So yes, I will file through the cattle corral-like line like everyone before me, because Cafe Rio is always crowded, and always worth it. more

FOOD QUALITY 2/15/2003

MY WIFE AND I USE TO GO 3 TIMES A WEEK, WE LOVED IT AND DONT MIND THE LINES WITHIN REASON (20 MIN) FOR AWHILE THOUGH WE THINK THE FOOD QUALITY IS COME DOWN A BIT , MAINLY WITH THE CHICKEN BURRITO , IT JUST DOESN'T TASTE THE SAME AS WHEN IT OPENED . WE STILL GO BUT JUST NOT AS MUCH . STILL THE BEST MEXICAN IN TOWN more

Great restaurant 11/25/2002

Best mexican food I have ever had, great service, and fun atmosphere more

EXCELLENT 7/18/2002

All that can be said is wow. This place has got the easy, casual, but amazing food down to an art. The salads are amazing especially with your choice of meats. And the faijita chicken tacos are to die for. Plus it's not over priced. I recommend this to anyone and everyone. Pros: inexpensive, take out, accessability Cons: crowded at times more

The Best! 6/28/2002

Well worth the wait. Fresh tortillas and ingredients. Hearty portions and fair prices. Try the pork burrito served enchilada style with chips and salsa. It'll treat you right. Expect a bit of a wait in line though--because everyone knows how good this place is! more

Waiting in Line, I'm not complaining!! 6/27/2002

The food is worth the wait!! The line only represents how popular and how really, really good the food really is! Everyone try this place!! more

Yum--great burritos 5/21/2002

Cafe Rio dishes up one of the best burritos in Utah. The line is always a chore to get through, but if you have the time it's worth the wait. Pros: great burritos Cons: long lines more
