great date place 4/19/2006

The food is only a little above average, and the portions are quite tiny, but this place is all about the ambience. Although it is your basic Chinese (Taiwanese) American fusion style restaurant, the decor is reminiscent of a high class French or Italian establishment. Once inside, you seem to forget that you are smack dab in the middle of a busy strip mall on a major throughfare, as you are whisked away to another world. This is the classic example of all style, and less substance. That is not to say that it is bad, however. They really know what they are doing here with the marketing. Simple dishes, such as Taiwanese style bento are served on fancy looking plates that sometimes seem like overkill. In any event, it's amazing how the placebo effect works, as ordinary food is magically transformed into a culinary delight. The service is so-so, and the waitresses are sometimes quite slow with requests, but it's all good, since the whole purpose of visiting this cafe is to just sit back and relax. Because of all this, I recommend this place for a nice dinner with a girl. Although I haven't had the pleasure of going out on a date in eons, I would assume that this is the type of place that would provide a nice backdrop for some meaningful conversation in a romantic, yet not too pretentious environment. It will definitely be a lasting experience for both parties without having to break the bank. more

Cafe Ophelia 9/28/2005

This is the basic Chinese restaraunt. The prices are about right and they have lovely service. Their milk pearl teas are only $1!! Great deal compared to Tapioca Express. Their food may be a bit on the expensive side, but it's delicious and the setting of the restaraunt is beautiful. more

Local treat 8/11/2005

Featuring mainly bubble tea and desserts, this place is particularly good about letting its customers sit and chat for hours without encouraging them to vacate their table. Particularly good is the fruit tea, with pieces of pineapple, apple, and other tropical fruits floating in it that make it both picturesque and tasty. The desserts aren't bad either. more

late night cafe 6/22/2005

Cafe Ophelia is just a lovely place to go, whether you just want a drink or a full sit down meal. The atmosphere is cozy romantic intimate and the menu is impressive for a late night venue. You can go for a snack or go into the restaurant and have a full late night course. The food is typically Chinese but with some variation, with a few specials to choose from. Prices are average, and the portions are medium, but you will not go hungry. I've tried the beef stew and fried rice in addition to their grass jelly tea. They have good desserts, too. Namely, tiramisu. Just a nice place to go to when it's late and you want to meet up with a friend. more
