The Scene A terra-cotta tiled floor and rattan chairs give the small restaurant an open, airy feel. You're treated like an old friend as soon as you walk in, which somehow makes the food taste even better. Dine outdoors on the sidewalk in front of the cafe, if you don't mind the view of Fair Oaks Boulevard. The Food Traditional dishes like gnocchi, scallopine and spaghetti, as well as daily appetizer and entree specials. What to Order Penne puttanesca, a spicy blend of olives, capers, anchovies and rich tomato sauce, is served over pasta pipes. Snag a few breadsticks to nibble on through the week; Vinoteca's are the perfect combination of soft and crunchy, with a buttery flavor. What to Skip Tavola Fredda, a selection of antipasti from a buffet-style table, tends to taste as if it's been left out a while--crusty bread is good, crusty cheese is not. (10/00)
