Overrated, Overpriced 12/11/2006

This was the club that I've been wanting to go to for some time. I've seen the long lines so it appears to be a guaranteed awesome club. My friend makes reservations for her birthday but it was a complete disaster. I've never been more disappointed. Pros: Beautiful venue. Cons: Lack of professionalism from the staff, long lines, price. more

Worst Customer Service EVER!! 12/11/2006

SAVE YOUR MONEY and go to a friendlier place!! Pros: nothing Cons: service, management, bouncers, overpriced & overhyped, bottle service, Grace Cespedes & Miguel Baeza more

Nightclub sux! Long Lines and $$$$. Will never go back! 11/21/2006

First off the line to get in is like the wait you do at an amusement park 1hr +. We got there around 10:30pm and didnt see the door till midnight. Then we get to the front of the line and the cover charge is $30! We would have left had we not waited so long. So we pay the outrageous amount to go in and discover that its hard to walk to around, then you have to wait in more outrageous lines for drinks, and dance to a dj that does not know how to mix. He would literally stop the record for a couple seconds for transitions. And even if he knew how to mix, his taste in music was wack! Rave/techno music, lame hip hop, and some "ok" spanish music. From afar you would think this place was the it spot, but save your money and go somewhere cheaper with no lines and you would have a much better time than I had at this Overly Hyped club. more

Pathetic excuse of a restaurant 11/17/2006

TGIF is better executed than this place. We ordered the ""filet mignon"" tapa which came out way overcooked and chewier than beef jerky. Come on? Filet? I think it was the lowest grade of sirloin steak. Got the shrimp tapas too. Overcooked and dry. The mushroom tapas was okay but that's probably only because it's do hard to mess that up. Thought that they may be able to make up for things with dessert but they screwed up even more. We ordered the chocolate molten/lave cake. Anyone who's ordered this knows the best thing about it is how the molten center oozes out of the cake when you cut into it. To my surprise (not!), the center did not ooze out and to top it off, the cake was still cold!!!!!!!!! AHHHHHHH!!!! They forgot to warm it up!!! Or left it in the oven for a minute!!! They also have a live band there which is halfway decent. But, it is so damn loud that you seriously have to yell at the people at your table. I left with a sore throat I was yelling so much. I don't believe there's anything wrong with a live band being loud, but only if you're at a straight up bar or venue that is hosting the band. We were at a restaurant where people should be able to enjoy their dinner accompanied by some music. The operative word here is, ""accompanied."" I wasn't there to listen to a band, I was there to eat, like I assume most people were on a Thursday night at 8 pm. Man, put the band on after 10pm, when the dinner crowd goes home and the partiers come in. Management got everything wrong on this place. It was a big waste of money. Only go here if you have no understanding of what a good resturant should operate like. Pros: prices are reasonable, if you get tapas Cons: too loud, food overcooked, poorly executed concept of a restaurant more

Fake lines in front 10/19/2006

We stopped at this club because it looked like it was the IT spot due to the long lines in front. Fake! We had to wait 20 minutes to get in, and the club was half full. Service is too slow and with attitude. I will not frequent this establishment again...doesn't meet the hype. Go somewhere else on Pine, there are a lot more places that will treat you right on Pine Avenue. Pros: Good Food Cons: Service, long fake lines more

Approach with Caution. 10/12/2006

I had arranged to do my birthday party at this place. On the day before the party, Miguel informed me that they were no longer able to host my party and renegotiated prices. Pros: Beautiful Design. Cons: Customer service. more

I had arranged to do my birthday party at this place. On the day before the party, Miguel informed me that they were no longer able to host my party and renegotiated prices. I was highly dissapointed by the management. The place is beautiful but the music is dissapointing..(the dj does a horrible job transitioning between songs!)...and the singles scene isnt that great. All in all, this place has the ingredients to be awesome but lacks the service and flavor to fulfill that promise. Pros: Beautiful Design. Cons: Customer service. more

Miguel, the general manager, and Café Sevilla have succeeded in bringing the taste and feel of another world to Long Beach. We will be back... 9/5/2006

My wife and I just celebrated 36 years together in a place worthy of such a celebration. While there where expected compromises in catering to an americanized clientele, Miguel, the general manager, and Cafe Sevilla have succeeded in bringing the taste and feel of another world to Long Beach. Excepting the straw in our sangria, they sent us back to memories of adventures many years ago on the other side of the world in Spain. The 25 year old memory is still fresh in our minds we had found a small hostile in Sevilla after a day of travel from the southern coast of Spain. It was late in the morning when we awoke to the sound of a flamingo guitar filling the small hallway on the 2nd floor. As we wandered down to the lobby for our morning cafe con leche we discovered that it was the desk clerk playing along with a TV program teaching locals how to play the guitar. We were in a different world. Everyone there played guitar, and played it with a passion. And everything stopped for afternoon siesta. We arrived at Cafe Sevilla in Long Beach at 6:45pm, had we been in Spain the cafe would have just opened after siesta, and now was the time for some sangria to set the mood for some pre-dinner tapas at the neighborhood bar. The staff and environment was the perfect setting; bringing back memories of the passions of a foreign place that was fresh, but old and comfortable. The music was indescribably spontaneous, real, and full of passion. As Miguel sat at the bar instructing someone on a laptop computer, I couldnt help but think that the tradition he is carrying on is centuries old, but the passion of Sevilla is as fresh as this mornings sunrise. We will be back to Cafe Sevilla, and we hope that they keep and saver the centuries old passion that they rekindle everyday. more

Great atmosphere - bad customer service. 8/18/2006

Great atmosphere, food, and tapas. Lacking greatly in service. For example, couldn't find reservation initially, went for a friends birthday and it took 2.5 hrs to get her a birthday shot! Waitress blamed on the bar staff - though it was obvious that it was much more than that, had to request the bill 3 times (along with the birthday shot) and then finally asked another waitress for it twice. Being a former bartendar - I have never seen this kind of problem before. Wanted to walk out and not pay - but not that kind of person. From hearing other experiences sound like they staff lightly - which could attribute to these types of problems. Would have been great if service was had not sucked - hopefully this was just a fluke. Pros: Everything - but the service Cons: The service more
