Super Delicious, Out of sight, Best Ethiopian Food, Finger lickin' good 12/6/2007

Their food is the greatest ever! I think their service is exceptional. Every time I have gone I am greeted with smiles. The yellow lentils (I forgot the name of the dish) is superb and is a great source of protein. There is another veggie dish with cabbage, carrots, and potatoes that I love. Try the honey wine if you are of age; it is soooooo yummo (as Rachel Ray would say). Just remember to make sure that everyone you go with washes their hands b/c the food is served family style and their are no utensils! :o) Pros: Yummy food Cons: The bathroom could be nicer more

Bad service, but REALLY DELI-ISH! 2/21/2006

My husband and I have tried a few other places, but go the distance to eat here when we crave Ethiopian. I wouldn't go on a cold day b/c it's chilly inside, and you might wait for awhile for the food. I love their hot chick pea flour dish, and the plates always come with salad separating the items. My husband loves their meat samosas and chicken dishes. I even pick up to take home. Don't expect anything fancy, just good food. more

Terrible service 7/24/2005

I agree with the other reviewer. I have been to this restaurant twice, with my Ethiopian food-loving boyfriend. I thought service the first time was an anomalie, but it was repeated the second time around. I don't think anyone in the restaurant spoke two words to us the entire night. We waited 45 minutes the first time for our food (stew; you can't tell me this was individually prepared), had to tackle the servers to get them to notice us; sat there with dirty plates, glasses, and empty bottles piling up, and waited probably 30 minutes after finishing our food - both times! - for a server to reappear, before finally paying at the cash register. I can't understand why they treat customers so badly, or how they continue to get away with it. I'll be going elsewhere for Ethiopian food. Pros: decent food, nice candlelight Cons: teeny parking lot, atrocious service, moderately expensive more

Worst Service! 1/2/2005

The food was not enough to convince me to return to this restaurant. My two friends and I received the worst service at this restaurant. Although the servers were not blatantly rude, we waited a very long time for our food, and customers that arrived well affter us received their food first. When we requested our check, not once, but twice, we were ignored. Customers next to us had only to request for their check once. We finally got up and paid at the cashier. more

Excellent veggie dishes 8/24/2003

My family loves the veggie combo plates and the vegetarian sabusas(Samosas). Everthing is spiced very nicely. We're not sure which dish is which......... they're all delicious. Our picky young teen son loves the sabusas (Filled with lentils??) and light and crisy wrapper and even tries some of the veggie combo! We've only been there once with friends who were meat eaters but the 5 of them loved their dishes!! Staff is very friendly and welcoming. I love to see that many local Ethiopians hang out there as well as a diverse crowd of East Bay folk. Pros: Delicious!!!!!, Sabusas -too tasty!, Friendly staff! Cons: Tables small but cozy, Too popular-go early! more

Absolutely fabulous! 1/15/2003

Absolutely delicious and decently priced. Try the honey wine for a nice complement to the spicy food- I'm always satisfied after a meal here! more
