Cafe 50's

This is a nice quiet restaurant which does resemble the 50's, but I just prefer newer places. The food was definitely good enough. You would enjoy going here once in a while, especially if you're on a budget. more

If you're looking for the old-time diner like in ""Happy Days"" this is the place. \r Free parking in the back if it's not full other wise street parking is readily available in front for $.50.\r Try the breakfast burrito it's great!! Portions are HUGE so bring your appitite. \r They also have free wireless internet if you happen to be dining alone w/ your laptop. Pros: Great food for a great price Cons: Parking lot too smal but they have street parking in the front so it's not that bad more

I ordered a corn dog from here and the hot dog inside was all shrivled and moldy, it had black spots on it, and was disgusting! When I asked to exchange or just get my money back, they looked puzzled, as if why I would not want to eat it. I wonder why, it was obviously old or contaminated. They argued with me until they finally let me pick something else. The pricing here is not so good. The hamburgers do not come in meals, you have to pay a lot extra for fries. Also, the value is not so good, they give out small portions. The hot dog to this day still disgusts me, I never went back again, I shouldn't have even eaten the burger I got instead of it. Went to this place cuz we had a coupon & it looked fun. Disappointed! When we ordered dinner special ($12+) & bill came, they would not honor the coupon (buy one, get one free.) ""Dinner specials don't count cuz they're so cheap."" We also ordered drinks & dessert spending a nice chunk of change here & when asked if they really would risk losing our business over this, they said ""You can't expect to get everything for free."" Also included were two 75 cent charges for two dinky cups of ranch dressing. (My Dad works in the restaurant business & it costs him about 2 cents for that cup size). Overall, I felt ripped off. Nickle and diming a customer on ""diner"" food is disgusting. Not even trying to keep us as customers was shocking! The ambiance of this place cannot wipe out the worst experience we have ever had. Cafe 50's has good food at reasonable prices. Although the building looks old, the tables and decor are right out of the 50's. You'd think you were in an epsiode of Happy Days. The sandwiches are good and plentiful. But make sure you save room for dessert! Shakes are served in an old-fashioned glass with plenty more left in the aluminum mixing cup. As any diner worth its salt should be. Recommendation: The ""Leave it to Beaver"" omelet. Whichever 3 ingredients you decide on to fill your omelet, you can be guaranteed that the portions will be huge. Tip: If you go there for breakfast, don't plan on eating lunch!
