There's always something about a restaurant that banks purely on it's waterfront views, and doesn't spend a whole lot of effort with it's food and service. I'm sure this place ha...

best latin in town 6/15/2006

omg....i love this place....the food ,the people, the music, it is the real deal....I cant get enough of this place.....the service is ok.....but otherwise everything else is top notch.... Pros: great food... Cons: not too many more

Good food, great view, lots of tourists 5/30/2006

Very good place for margaritas and apps, or if you're in the mood for a good Cuban sandwich. Located in Pier 17, the restaurant is predictably filled with tourists with an occasional smattering of finance district suits taking a long lunch. Service is good depending on the server... I've had good to excellent, never bad service. The sandwiches are very good. Mojitos are good, not excellent. Overall a fun place to hang out and relax, especially on a beautiful day. Pros: Good food, Great view more

GREAT LOCATION AND GREAT FOOD 5/25/2006

CAN'T EXPLAIN YOU MUST GO AND EXPERIENCE IT! GREAT FOOD! NICE VIEWS! GREAT SERVICE! FIVE-STAR ACROSS THE BOARD! Pros: EVERYTHING more

Great Caribbean Food 4/20/2006

You have to order the meat filled tostones. They are to die for. And the bacalaitos are excellent. Don't forget Ropa vieja or picadillo. It was a great mix of cuban and puertorican food. And top it all off with the view of South Street Seaport. Pros: excellent food, excellent view, excellent service more

Nice place for groups 3/29/2006

The restaurant is big and busy of course for a Friday nite. Was turned off that the hostess didn't acknowledge my wait to be seated (no one else was in front of her) and kept talking w/ a friend who was leaving. Her co-host seemed flustered, busy and barely acknowleged me as well. After what seemed liked 10 minutes, they finally acknowledged me & suddendly came alive and gave us a seat. Our waiter was extremely professional and very friendly and even gave us some recommendations. Food came quite quickly and was yummy. Seemed like the dishes were a bit too Americanized and not authentic at all but I was not complaining. Only thing I wouldn't order again was the pathetic ceviche. Everything else was great and inexpensive. Mojitos and Margritas were nice & we were also recommended not to get them frozen and that was highly appreciated. Pros: lots of seating, lively atmosphere, inexpensive Cons: ugly decor more

Excellent Staff and Food 2/20/2006

It was our first time there and it was wonderful. The staff was very attentive our waitress was always on her toes all I had to do was look up and she was there. My husband who is a picky eater loved the food. Our freinds who were with us also loved. We cant wait to go back. Pros: Food, Ambience, Drinks Cons: Parking more

Great place for lunch 2/7/2006

If you're ever in the mood for a cubano and drinks, this is the place to go! Their lunch specials are delicious and not at all over priced. The cocktails are even better! Go have a few drinks, you'll have a great time. Great for large parties but make sure you make reservations! Pros: Cheap good eats, Drinks Cons: Slow service more

Great Restaurant for Weekday Summer Night 7/13/2005

My wife and I were there 7/13/2005, a Tuesday night and got there around 9:30 and sat outside. The restaurant was not crowded at all and service was great and food was great. Right there on the Seaport and from our table you can see the river as the some ships pass by. I can see this restaurant being very busy on the weekend of course. more

Great in the Summer 5/21/2005

Great for drinks, alight meal or full meal. You really cannot go worng here. The view of the Seaport adds to this hot summer spot. Pros: ambience, great drinks, well priced more

Eating at Cabana you can't go wrong! 10/25/2004

Since they first opened I have eaten here sooooo many times that I loose count. I've eaten at all three locations and I always love, love the food, the service is always wonderful and the prices are really reasonable. If you want good tasting, well seasoned latin food eat at Cabana and you can't go wrong. I think I have tried just about everything on the menu, but I always have the coconut shimp first. Pros: Drinks more

Love this place 8/16/2004

I took a friend for dinner for his birthday here and the food was amazing. The view of the water is beautiful too, and the overal ambiance of the place was great. Its a great place for groups and defintely a great place to have a romantic dinner too. The food portions are huge and you totally get your money's worth. Don't forget to top off you meal with the banana dessert they have here, absolutely delicious. Overall, a great experience, and highly recomended. Pros: Inexpensive, Great food, Large portions more

Touristy Touristy Touristy 8/1/2004

Just came back from there, not a pleasant meal. Service was indifferent, food was mediocre. Overall feels like I am visiting another place, nothing New York about Cabana. Waitress threw napkins, forks, knives. Chips cost you money, you have to order it. Food came after over an hour, even though there is no wait to get in (now I know why). I had shrimp with garlic sauce. The Mexican place across from my building served much better for $6 rather than $22. Maybe go there for the view, but don't bother eating there, go to the bar. Half an hour is enough to view the Sea Port. Pros: View of sea port, Good mojito, Lots of tables Cons: , Food not worth value, Unimpressive decor more

Great Food with a view 2/13/2004

I love to go here in the summer..they leave the doors open and u can eat outside with a view of the skyline..the food is great..the drinks are fabulous.. I had a couple of bday gatherings there and all of my guests enjoyed their food very much Pros: View, Food more

Rude at first 12/27/2003

It was my first time at this restaurant and had made reservations for 14 for my bf's bday. Everyone wasn't here yet because they were looking for parking, etc and the hostess guy was threatening to give up our table if our entire party wasn't together in 10 min. I thought that was kind of rude, considering there weren't even people waiting to be seated there. The waitress was very tentative to our needs and the food came out pretty quickly. The bill came out to quite a lot though, considering there were 14 of us & some of us ordered way too many drinks. I suggest getting a pitcher to save money on individual drinks. And since we had such a large group, it was difficult to talk to everyone. They just put tables together, forming a long table, so not everyone was able to talk/hear everyone. more

Worth a visit 10/26/2003

Been here on various occaions, the ambience is great with the view of the river. The food is great, the menu has a lot of selection and if you not sure ask the waiter for the daily specials. Everything is great in this place. Pros: Ambience, large portions Cons: little noisy more

Great 8/10/2003

Nice Spanish/Carib/Mex cuisine on the top floor of SS Seaport Mall. Wonderful food & service - decent prices. Pros: Food, Service, View Cons: Noisy when full, No reservations more

Good dinnin' experience 7/14/2003

The Ojitos're great! and the food's delicious. Great for a big group..the service is pretty good more

Purely Latin 5/30/2003

Loved the food and the music. Its great food for a great price. Service was good, but after ordering the appetizer she forgot about our table. The view is beautiful. more

Good Food! 10/21/2002

My friends celebrated my birthday there and was pleasantly surprised to say the least. I was hesitant to go there since it is at the Seaport - which in my experience, Seaport restaurants are middle of the road and uninspiring - basically tourist joints. The food and service were great. Lively atmosphere, great for groups, families, couples -- everyone. There were 4 other birthday dinners going on at the same time, a big indicator that this is a highly popular restaurant. We left the restaurant satisfied from not only the quality and quanitity of the food, but also that it didn't hurt everyone's pockets!! Pros: great food, good value, lively atmosphere Cons: location more
