The place for flowers 12/26/2005

If you love fresh flowers, this is the place for you. A large selection and some of the best prices in town. Not those cheapo bodega flowers that never seem to last more than two or three days, these are the real deal. These are flowers that last for a long time and are interesting. It is also nice that the place is set up so tht if you want you can make your own arrangements. more

Come Early and with strong arms 8/9/2005

What a delightful way to start the day by going to this flower market. The colors, varieties, and scents of these beautiful flowers will overwhelm your senses, and you won't want to leave. All the merchants are helpful and friendly, and it is a lovely way to fill your house for a special occassion or even for a pick me up on a hot day. Make sure you're heading straight home afterwards though, so these don't wilt more

Editorial
  • The Scene
Opened in 1997, this long brick building is much more than a glorified food court. Food, flowers, kitchen supplies and dining occupy the ground-level space, while offices for companies such as Oxygen make up the upper floors. Neighborhood office workers mingle with those in search of gourmet ingredients.

    The Goods
There are more than 20 shops to visit, including Sarabeths, Hale and Hearty Soups and more fresh produce outlets. Chelsea Market is perfect for lunch, for gathering ingredients after work or for rounding up 12 white ramekins for a creme brulee dessert to be served at this weekend's dinner party. It's the perfect place to think about yourself, of course, but also to think about gifts--many of the businesses carry beautiful wrapped options, perfect for a host present.
