you must see this.. 8/19/2005

The discovery of this amazing chapel was the highlight of my trip to the Menil Collection. I have since then returned more than a handful of times to show all of my friends my discovery. The beauty lies in its simplicity and amazing ability to use light. I could sit inside the chapel for hours just to relax. The chapel is a wonderful addition to the Menil Collection and definitely worth going back to a thousand times over. You must experience it for yourself because these words simply aren't doing the place any justice. Highly Recommended. more

The collection includes the a dome and an apse that was ripped and stolen out of a chapel near Lysi in the Turkish occupied section of Cyprus in the 1980's, cut into pieces, and smuggled off the island by thieves prepared to sell them piece by piece. The pieces were rescued and the Church of Cyprus is allowing a long-term loan of the pieces in the new building designed especially for them. This is a must see stop on anyone adventure to see the great features that this location has to offer, the rough stone, opaque glass, and rich woods, to the extraordinarily spiritual effect. more
