I hired a plumber to re-connect all our under sink pipes, after we removed the sink to re-do our counters. The technician (William) was extremely rude the entire time he was in my home. When I noticed the water to the dishwasher and the water filter wasn't working, he told me he had connected the pipes he was supposed to and that turning on the water wasn't part of his job. After he connected everything, one of the pipes was leaking (which I don't believe it was previously) instead of admitting error in the reconnection process, he decided I needed a new pipe, which he promptly charged me an additional $99 for (it took him 5 minutes max to install) The price turned out to be by the job, rather than the hour (like all the other plumbers I called) Where most plumbers were $85/hr and the job took 1.5hrs, I paid $337 total (the equivalent of nearly 4 hours! It would have been one thing to be overcharged, but to be treated so rudely in my own home was totally unprofessional and unnecessary! more

Called on a Monday (probably a busier day for plumbers, I'd think) asking for a quote to install a toilet and a "how soon can it be done" inquiry. Was put on hold for about 2 minutes and was pleased to hear "$149, and someone can be out there within 1-4 hours". Pretty simple stuff! They were at my place an hour later. The actual cost turned out to be $99 more to replace the rusted/crusted up bolts from the flange. I thought that $99 seemed a bit steep, but I wasn't really psyched to do the work myself or shop it, so I said go for it. The plumber also mentioned a $39 "service call" charge, which I told him I wasn't aware of/it wasn't quoted, so he waived it. Toilet works. End of story! more
