There was five of us and we all order the ribs. They were to spicy and not tender at all. It was not worth the money. Also, the place was not so great and the beer we ordered was warm. I cannot believe this restaurant is considered one of the best in South Florida. more

A friend invited us out so I was looking forward to a nice bbq (on him). When we arrived, the staff was very friendly - good sign. Our table ordered three burgers and a rack of ribs. Some got "seasoned" fries, some got the sweet potato fries, and cole slaw. I also got a (warm) beer. The positive was the cole slaw, it was very good. My 14 y/o son, who has no problem polishing off a burger, couldn't finish his, I tried a bite of his leftover and was not impressed, it was flavorless. My ribs were dried out and had no flavor, the last two bones in my rack just had a film of meat on them. The other two who had burgers were happy with their choices. My "seasoned" fries tasted over cooked and over processed, like they were twice fried or something. I doubt that I will go back, there are plenty of other places to eat. more

Worst pulled pork i've ever had. And their "chipotle" fries had nothing chipotle about them... more

Florida is not known to have very good BBQ, but I expected this place to be good since their "claim to fame" is their supposed celebrity chef who was a contestant on a cooking competition. Their style is also supposed to be based off of North Carolina bbq who happen to be known for good brisket. Sadly this place let me down and I was really looking forward to FINALLY having a place near me that makes a good brisket. First, the pulled pork had no flavor, and then the brisket all came out in one color and not warm. Anyone who is familiar with a smoked brisket expects the pinkish hue from the smoke (also known as smoke rings) but the brisket was all one color which made me feel like they microwaved it and probably the reason why it took 15 minutes for it to get to my table after we ordered. My sweet potato fries were over cooked, the onion rings didn't even have the much needed salt, the mac n cheese had no flavor (KFC mac n cheese is better than this!) and I am not sure why a "North Carolina Style BBQ" joint is serving up St. Louis style ribs. Nonetheless I was seriously disappointed at the flavorless food. Seriously skip this place and save your BBQ cravings for a city like Memphis because Florida always falls short. more

Well after waiting 20 mins. I walked out. Lousy service. Extremely inconsistent food and service. What's ironic was, I sat at the counter. Been there three times. That's strike three for me. Never go back again. more

Its a nice place with not to many items to choose from but the smoked meat is awesome, tasty and aside from having only 2 or 3 sauces to choose from it was amazingly enjoyable. The cornbread is sweet and certainly you can taste the home made recipe from within. The prices are not like those of your average BBQ perhaps it costs allot to run a smoker for many many hours while they pride their fall off the bone ribs and other meats to their SLOW cooked process. Server was amazing and very attentive to us as well as helpful with lots of suggestions that were right on and exact to what he said they would be and we enjoyed!. We even returned to take-out and it was good but I recommend eating in-house for a better experience. more

The brisket melts in your mouth, the corn bread is amazing, the coleslaw is awesome ... what can I say? You can't go wrong but you need to try the brisket - it's perfection :) more

Went here with some friends who live in Florida, as they suggested it as a good place for burgers. What can i say, the atmosphere was great, the food was awesome. The staff were extremely friendly. I ordered the Luther Burger, had to try it as my friends recommended it. wrong on many levels, but tasted out of this world, the combination of sweet & savory was fantastic. more

I used to love this place, my husband and me always recommended to everyone but today we went after a few months and they changed everything, they lost the rustic and unique style they had on the tables, now the place is bigger but the service is bad (half of the staff is rude and the other is slow)... The flavor of the food just wasn't there, we had the lettuce wraps with chicken which used to be one of my favs and it was just ok, but nothing like before they didn't serve the nice corn with the cheese like they used to :(, then my husband had the ribs and he couldnt even finish them because they were really bad, i had the bbq chicken and it had no flavor and it was completely dry... I had to constanly look for our server in order to get our drinks... I don't know what happened to chef Howie, I really admired him when this place opened but now is like the place got famous and it lost its touch... I really miss the real, unique an old bulldog bbq! more

I paid a visit to Bulldog Barbecue yesterday - and MAN was it good!\r \r \r Chef Howie Kleinberg took my order of a 1/4 rack of ribs, some chipotle fries and some wings.\r \r The beurre blanc on the wings set them apart from any that I have had. When I asked how they were prepared all that flavor became clear - they're smoked and then flash fried.\r \r I really meant to try their bbq sauce (two one hand, a tomato based sauce and a mustard based sauce), but my ribs were so flavorful that I never got to it.\r \r Cornbread - awesome!\r \r Chipotle fries - super crispy.\r \r One complaint: the butter for my cornbread was so cold it was nearly impossible to spread (I would have loved to have had some honey butter too!).\r \r All in all: Awesome place - I will definitely be back (maybe today for lunch!). more

As a girl from NC, I was skeptical, but I must say that I'll be back. While the "Carolina slaw" isn't "real" I like this type much more than the red, sweet style that you get in NC. Cornbread was good, but could have been better. What makes this place is the pulled pork & burnt end beans. As someone who typically enjoy leftovers as much as the first time around, this stuff just got better! While I missed the vinegar sauce from back home, and everythig was sweeter than I typically like, this was a very enjoyable meal that reminds me of home! more

The waiter was extremely nice, though his service was slow. I felt the main portion was too small. It is as if they want you to walk away full from the side dishes. The flavor was just okay. I would consider the place quite forgettable if my close didn't smell like I was working in the kitchen. It's also a but pricey. I'd give it a C- or 2.5 stars. I hope they read this and step it up. I want this restaurant to succeed. more

Finally, a great BBQ place in Miami 8/10/2010

Bulldog BBQ is a really nice place with a cool concept and delicious BBQ. I've been waiting for a good BBQ place to open in Miami and it finally has!! On my two trips their I've been able to try a few things out. The beef brisket was a little small in my opinion but very tasty and super moist. I LOVE the rub they use on it. The corn bread that comes with your meal tastes fresh and homemade. The coleslaw was yummy but I had difficulty getting it out of that little cup! Totally worth the effort though! I've also had the rib/chicken combo which were both great! Their house rub is unique and spicy. I reallllly enjoyed it. The chicken was not at all dry - which is always a plus with BBQ chicken. The decor is upscale but comfortable. I felt okay dining there in casual clothes despite the black cloth napkins and fancy dinnerware. I pay a great attention to detail when I go out and you can tell the owners of this place do too. The menus are super cute, the hanging baskets on the wall with the sauces are trendy. Even the bathroom is nice. Oh yeah, they offer catering at decent prices (I picked up a pink catering menu on the way out) which I will keep in mind for the next family reunion. Overall, great place. I'll definitely be back. more

So far it's taken 30 minutes for a VERY basic order. & it's not busy. Prices seem high. Will comment on food if we ever get it. more

I am not a meat eater at all...i have had everything onthe menu. when i am watching my weight i like the chop salad. my children love the white bean chili. the ribs and the chicken fingers fromthe puppy chow menu. the sweet potato fries are fresh and homemade\r now to the mac n cheese...it is the bes.t my hubby ordered just that the other night for an entree. it is a side dish but they give you so much that it is a meal. the staff is nice and remember you. it is a small town restaurant with great food. my little one love the smores thing for dessert. definitely go by!!! more

Editorial review from Urbanspoon 2/25/2010

Yep, it's possible. The pulled pork was overly salty, the burnt end beans were overly sweet and the brisket was bland. They're not traditional barbeque - they don't have to be in order to be good. This place left me scratching my head - they have all the makings of a great spot. It's modern, clean and has quick friendly service. They are a bit cramped but really good food brings people in no matter what. I also felt the prices were much too high. The 1/2 and 1/2 (which allows you to select 2 of their barbeque meat options) was $21 - OUCH. I was excited to hear that this was owned an operated by a former Top Chef contestant. I love that show - but not this restaurant. more
