Urban Treat Amidst Midtown Madness 7/16/2010

The popular outdoor caf? nestled under towering trees and skyscrapers plays sibling to the glam and pricey Ark-owned restaurant (Red, Sequoia), Bryant Park Grill next door--famous for the ""Sex and the City"" movie's fancy wedding snafu. Pros: Park, Seasonal Fun (Fashion Wk, Skating, Movies, Concerts) Cons: Bit Pricey, Stuffy Work Crowd. more

decent salad, awful service 8/6/2008

Went for dinner and a drink at the outdoor bar with another female friend of mine. The atmosphere and food were good. Service was slow and disappointing. We had a female bartender who was pretty/petite and could make a drink but wanted nothing to do with us, only wanted to talk to male customers. My friend and I were fairly low maintenance, drinking a beer and premade frozen margarita... but to get a second one we would wait with empty glasses.... wait to get her attention, then when she gave us a second drink we had to reach to get it from near the spill mat, around the empty uncollected first glasses and empty dinner plate that she didn't take til after our check was given. At one point a guy behind the bar pointed out someone wanting a drink in her section and she replied ""I'm cleaning"".... he had to make her go wait on the person. At the end when I said I'll close my tab and give you cash for it... she ran my credit card. more

Nice view, terrible food 7/11/2008

I've been to Bryant Park Cafe twice, and both times I, and the two different people I went with, didn't like it. The salads taste like they picked the leaves off of the trees from Bryant Park and added a little bit of dressing on it. Also, there's not many choices to choose from, so if you're a picky eater, definitely don't go there. Service was really slow, and not attentive at all. The only thing this place has to offer is the nice roof-top setting, which is the only reason I went twice. Go once for the nice view, definitely not for the food though. Pros: Amazing setting, View Cons: Service, Food more

Mediocre at best 4/21/2008

The location is great! Love the outdoor location;-though it was a bit crowded. The bartenders lack personality with plenty of negative attitude. There's no reason for the negativity! It totally ruins the patrons night. more

Disappointing at best 7/2/2006

Bryant Park Cafe is in a fantastic location and the atmosphere is wonderful. The cafe itself has little to offer. Service is slow and less than friendly. The food was disappointing at best and this is coming from a NYer who is not difficult to please. One would think in New York that a cheeseburger would be difficult to ruin. Over-cooked and bland is a generous description. They were also sold out of fries"" which we were told at the last minute. more

Beautiful Spot for a Bite & Drink 5/27/2005

Bryant Park is one of my favorite areas to sit and people watch. There is just something so beautiful and tranquil about this park situated in bustling midtown. The cafe is a great place to lounge in. Especially pleasant in the spring, I would go there in comfortable clothes and split a bottle of wine with some friends. The liquor is decent though nothing exceptional and the food is basically finger food. Service is forgetful at times but, who cares when you have nothing better to do on a lazy, hazy Sunday afternoon. FYI, if you go there for happy hour it will be packed. more

Nice spot but below average restaurant 9/2/2004

Bryant Park is one of the most beautiful spots in the city. Bryant Park Cafe has the perfect spot to be successful. Unfortunately, the service is slow and pretty ""industrial"", the food is below average, and finally plates, glasses and cuttlery tend to be dirty. With the increase in the number and quality of outdoor restaurants/cafes in NYC, Bryant Park Cafe's performance is very disappointing, especially given the location. The only thing I could recommend is to have a drink at the bar and avoid the grill restaurant. Pros: Location, The outdoor bar, Outdoor eating Cons: , Average food, Dirty cuttlery more
