Great Food in Giant Portions 2/2/2009

A group of friends and I have been eating at the Brown Bag Cafe every Sunday morning for 4 years (except Holidays). Even after 4 years we haven't even given a thought to finding a new place to meet every week. The breakfasts are great, but lunch (served after 9:30am) is the big secret. Their homemade bread and barbeque sauce is amazing. The burgers require you to unhinge your jaw to eat and the Chef's Dip sandwich is one of the best comfort foods around. Keep an eye on the specials as their is some excellent stuff that shows up seasonally. The only weak part may be the service as they have the average turn over rate of young waitress who go off to school and such; so their is always a chance you might end up with someone new to the job. Overall though, I spend 48 Sundays a year there and will continue to do so as long as the food stay delicious and the staff friendly. more

I love this place!! The food is home made and great no matter what I order. Burgers on the fresh baked buns are amazing. Buns baked right there.... I mean crazy. The service is always with a snile and fantastic. And they are super naturally cute too. Sometimes I've had to wait a while when thy're busy but I have to wait anyplace thats busy - even the burger drive thrus!!!!! For my 10 bucks this place is 5 STAR. more

Awful service, but ok food 8/11/2006

Well, I agree with everyone that the food is pretty good, and the portions are ridiculously big, but the service at this restaurant is AWFUL!! I have been to this place a few times, and every time I have really bad service. The last time that I was there, we waited almost a half an hour for the waitress to come back to give us our check before we finally got up and went to the front to pay. This was after the food took more than a half an hour to get to us in the first place. Our short lunch ended up taking all afternoon due to the pace of the service, and we did not once get an apology or an acknowledgement about our wait. This last visit was the last straw and I will not be dining at this restaurant again. more

Excellent Atmosphere, Lots of Food, Great Prices! 7/14/2006

The Brown Bag Cafe in Kirkland is a wonderful place to go whether by yourself or with those that you love. They have plenty of seating and in the Summer they open their patio up for dining in the sun! My girlfriends and I go there at least once a week, normally after a 'long' night to grab a cup of coffee and gossip. The service is normally very good and the amount of food you get is borderline ridiculous! One of my favorite things about this restaurant too is their presentation of the menu - which very bluntly states on it their opinion of people who use their cell phone!!!! If you are ever in need of a hearty breakfast in a fun family atmosphere, The Brown Bag Cafe is where you belong! more

Excellent breakfast 9/9/2005

If you're looking for great food, then this is a super place to get breakfast. If you like a HUGE amount of really good food, then this is the place for you! They only serve breakfast and lunch, and the lines are long, but it's worth the wait! They bake their own breads, really yummy. more

One of the best breakfast/lunch places around! 8/19/2005

Brown bag cafe in kirkland is a more down south home style type of food... Its very large helpings of food, imagine claim jumper but for breakfast! The hash browns are huge and spiced very nicely! sausage is big and juicy, and pancakes are tasty and large! so are omelets! I have yet to have a lunch there but am thinking about trying it later, the burgers looked absolutely scrumptious and huge! It is a bit pricier than most breakfasts but it puts a small thin denny's breakfast to shame! I think they only stay open till 3 or so, so get there early! more

Lots Of Food 8/16/2005

Very good food and really big portions. It is hard to explain just how much food you get here, but I am a 220 lb man and I have never been able to finish my meal. The food is very tasty here and the price is very reasonable considering how much food you actually get. I love it especially because the leftovers are just as good the next morning. I believe their food is baked fresh there and it sure tastes like it. They serve lunch too, but I have only had the breakfast there. I would recommend one of the many skillets they have to offer. more

yummy! 8/13/2005

Let me start off my saying the servings are HUGE. Even the smaller portions are pretty large. If you have a big appetite try the Big Mike (and if you can finish it -- you're my hero!) The kinda crummy thing is you CANT get the kids servings, so I found that I wasted quite a bit of food. The hash browns are slightly seasoned, but they are cut more like potato chips and cooked, not like the shaved hash browns Denny's have, so I was surprised when I saw that at first. The food good, not great, the only thing truly unique is the large portions. They close at 3pm though, so get your breakfasts/brunches/and lunches out of the way before they close down! more
