Best

I have been going here for about a year and all the masseurs have been great. Andrei, James, and Sebastian are amazing.

Worst

First of all, if you are looking for a relaxing spa experience--this is NOT the place to go...I would compare it to fast food of the restaurant industry with a hospital design. I...

Cozy, cramped, excellent value 12/12/2005

The massage was awesome though there were several neck adjustments that I didn't expect. I never had a better massage! The staff is also very personable and laid-back. The amenities are sparse but do the job. the bathroom in back is so small that the door clips the toilet bowl when the door is opened or closed. Also, I'm told that in the summertime it gets very hot. Central air-conditioning might help that. Pros: Price, Service, Cozy Cons: Cramped, Dowdy more

not fancy but great 10/31/2005

They may look spiffier after last week's renovation, but Brooks already has all of the crucial elements: sauna, steam room, and powerhouse masseuses. It's small and not posh, but open late, reasonably priced, and oh so satisfying. Oxana really knew her stuff, worked hard & in detail to release my tense muscles. I'll definitely go back. more

Best little slice of heaven 7/8/2005

All i wanted was to get away from L.A. and i found a place to do so. Brook's has the best massages and the staff is welcoming, nuturing, and real. and the best part of it all is all the time i get to sauna and steam. i learned they are in the midst of remodeling for the next 50 years and i cant wait. oh and Will, Andre, and sergey (just to name a few) are just out of this world. Pros: clean, parking,, affordable, on time,, customer service Cons: some noise heard more

great value for quality w/o frills 4/13/2005

A good massage usually helps me to sleep more fitfully and wake up more relaxed the following day. Brooks had me feeling completely at peace for two days afterwards. So the massage is excellent. The steamroom is very small and cramped however (and when the door slides open, all the heat seems to completely escape). There was only one shower and it was not impeccably clean... And bringing your own shampoo might be a good idea. The sauna was as big as my cubicle at work. But who cares right? It's all about the massage and THAT was AWESOME. So if you are really particular about your spa environment and have the money and time to go elsewhere, you might as well do so. Otherwise, Brooks absolutely can't be beat. Pros: skill/attitude, hours/availability, VALUE Cons: tiny, no frills, could be cleaner... more

Great massage at Great Price 2/13/2004

It's not the newest, shiniest or coolest spa but they give you a darn good massage for a great price. What I like most about this place is that an hour massage is an hour, not 50 minutes. Pros: Skill, Price more

AWESOME 10/29/2003

My experience at Brooks was a great one! They aren't huge but they sure have heart and the best therapists anywere! Ive been to a few of the really expensive spas and got a bunch of terrible massages. When your ready to give up all the glass and marble to actually fix you hurting body. Brooks is the place=) Pros: inexpensive, nice people, GREAT therapists more

Brooks Baths now called Brooks Massage Therapy has been at the same location since 1954. The therapists are just the best you can find in Los Angeles. The place isnot that fancy but the treatment is just great. Pros: great massage, expert therapists, good attitude Cons: mediun zise place, parking some times more

Brooks has been there since the beginning of time. Their theripists and employees are the best. The place is not foo foo, but it is clean and restful. They have been working on the place doing improvements. If your back needs some serious stress relief, there is no other place. more

  • The Scene
Many primped and preened Angelenos happily spend weeks on a waiting list to pay top dollar for a massage at the city's most exclusive spas--and then there's the rest of us. With its mom-and-pop exterior and mural-painted interior, Brooks is definitely not the most luxurious place in town; however, in-the-know locals have embraced its non-pretentious atmosphere and no-nonsense massages since the early '50s.

    The Services

Available by the half or full hour, these slow, relaxing massages prove that babbling fountains and New-Age Muzak are not crucial elements for massage nirvana. Sure, the layout is not exactly Zen-like (talking can be heard through the walls), but the skill of the masseurs, the serenity of a natural-rock eucalyptus steam room and the reasonable prices are enough to put even the most stressed-out client at ease.
