Editorial review from Citysearch 6/22/2013

Horrible Service. Staff needs to be retrained. Very long wait times. Its riduculous to have to wait over 1 hour at your table before their server takes your order and checks to make sure all the drink orders are in. I had to get up and ask the server to serve our table some bread after 1 hour of sitting there. After an hour and half of waiting we finally start to get some food other than bread, and my friends grilled shrimp comes out Raw and uncooked. Theres a hungry toddler at our table we asked to be served first and requested to take her order first for that reason. The server brings the toddlers food last while everyone else is already eating. She ordered a freaking kids meal for crying out loud. She sat at the table hungry for about 1 hour and 40 minutes. The server we had at the table seemed to be annoyed that I asked her to bring us bread and to bring me a refill of lemonade after trying to ask her 3 times, so she requested to be switched to another table because I asked her to improve her service. It doesnt take someone smart to fulfill basic requests and provide common sense customer service. $50 for my meal and a kids meal to get this type of poor service is ridiculous. Definitely do not recommend this place if you are expecting good service. The terrible service practically will kill your appetite. more

service gets worse and worse with every visit 6/26/2008

I have dined here 10 times....each experience gets worse and worse thanks to the service. \r \r Food is excellent each time. \r \r Service has gotten worse each time. This last visit, on a Thursday night was the worst I've experienced in 2 years. Three of us sat down at 730 on the patio, we had a spinach appetizer, 2 pasta dinners and a chicken on the bricks, coffee, and desert and we still got out of there in 2 hours and 45 minutes. Our server had 3 tables, with us being the 1st, and all 3 tables (with groups of 5, 8, and 4) were seated after us, and left before us.\r Each time our server came by, she apologized for how long things took.....yet everyone around us got their food and drinks (1 person had 2 glasses of wine in our group, i had water) before us and left before us.\r I will not return to Brio again for dinner and certainly not to the server who waited on us. Pros: food always well prepared Cons: service, excuses, price more

don't wast your time & money Robins in whitehall or olive garden is more authentic. 3/24/2008

parking meter 25 cents for 12 min, a hour at a time -did not see any valet on sunday.we got drinks and SPICY SHRIMP PEPERONATA .good start-we never been there before and the waitress was not that helpfull.GORGONZOLA LAMB CHOPS(over cooked)ROASTED CHICKEN & BUTTERNUT SQUASH RISOTTO tast was good.#3--Herb chicken brest with mashed potatoes and carots that were undercooked.(not that good) BISTECCA INSALATA not that good.FIELD GREENS SALAD was better my coffiee was cold the bread was not good or hot it was like sponge.i would not go back\r a better choice is Robins Italian Cafe 4720 E Main St, whitehall(columbus) it\r was Butch's Italian Cafe and before that it was Armando still a great family run place: I have family that will only eat there when they are in ohio! portions can be big, and/or they give option of half portions. they also carry the best cheescakes. serving size is huge, better get a to go box or share. thay make there own pasta and the shrimp is to die for. \r the other 2 people that were with me said olive garden was better than Brio Tuscan Grille hands down.\r Pros: no waiting -SPICY SHRIMP PEPERONATA -FIELD GREENS SALAD Cons: do not look like cook to order-over cooked -under cooked food not Authentic sponge bread. more

Consistently bad service and the food isn't worth it 2/8/2008

The food at Brio is pretty good, but I much prefer their sister restaurant Bravo. To add insult to injury, the service is atrocious! I've been told that I'd have a 15 minute wait and ended up waiting over 2 hours! If you do go, make sure to get the espresso gelato. It's one of the only things that makes the trip worthwhile. Pros: Great gelato Cons: Terrible service more

Great customer service 10/22/2006

I've never been disappointed at Brio with the food or the service. All of the dishes are delicious, and served consistent and with a friendly attitude. The staff is very pleasant and willing to accommodate your every need. more

greatly ran restaurant 8/1/2006

From the moment you walk in you see the class. I have dined in this restaurant a number of thimes and I have never once had a less than superb expierience. No other Restaurant that I have visited has been so consistant. Every time I go I am impressed with the knowledge of the server and the personal visit from one of the management staff. The food is definetly something to brag about also. Every time I go I get something different and I am blown away by the excellence. The final thing I can rave about is the wine selection. For a large resaurant chain they have a great wine selection with some wines that are not availible anywhere else. I highly reccomend Brio for a great dining expierience that is a rareity these days. Pros: service and great food Cons: a little noisy more

horrible service 5/15/2006

My husband took my parents and myself there for dinner on a Friday night. While we were seated promptly, our waitress was an idiot and kept messing up our orders all night. We were never given any compensation for this, such as a free dessert or salad, and she was rude all night. They barely gave me any wine in my wine glass, and the red wine was poured in a white wine glass. When I'm paying $7.95 for a glass of wine, I would like more than 2 ounces. It was incredibly loud, and I felt like I was shouting the entire night. The food was average; well overpriced for what you received. Needless to say, I will not be going back there any time soon. I can make much better Italian food at home, and I can drink wine better wine. more

Not bad, but not great 5/3/2006

I visited this restaurant on a business trip to Columbus based on the Citysearch rating. It wasn't bad, but it wasn't great either. My expectations were based on my frequent travels to New York, and it did not live up to that. The restaurant is somewhat like a fancy Olive Garden. The food is pretty good, and the service can be spotty. It's not an authentic, family-owned italian restaurant, though. more

It just looks like a bad table........ 9/2/2005

Two of us were travelling on business and stopped in at Brio without reservations. We were immediately seated at a table that for all practical purposes was in the kitchen. The scene was loud, somewhat chaotic, and not condusive to business conversation over dinner. A terrible location I thought until we were offered a free Ceasar salad and a potato dish appetizer that were incorrectly ordered for other tables. A great perk from our server to compensate for the table location. Our waiter was excellent and responsive for the entire meal. The portions were massive and their quality was excellent. I definitely recommend the Lobster and Shrimp dish. Will return in the future. Reservations definitely recommended. Pros: Service, Quality of food, Portion size Cons: None really more

Worth the Drive 5/10/2005

We live and hour and 20 minutes from Brio, but often make the drive solely to dine here. The food (gorgonzola crusted strip steak mmmm), wait staff and atmosphere are all top notch. Once there was a small mistake with our dinner salads - we didn't even notice but we were immediately apologized to by our waitress, another server and the manager and offered free dessert. The tiramisu and pastas are to die for. We love Brio and whenever a special occasion arises or we just want an excellent meal, we don't hesitate to make the trip to Easton. Pros: Good Parking, Excellent Atmoshpere, Best food in the city Cons: lengthy wait more

Simply the best must see & eat destination 3/28/2005

Most authentic Italian atmosphere -- great food to enjoy and lots of socialness/activity to observe and to partake in (for the latter, sit at the oven-side counters at either side). For the most part, the help gets it too -- outgoing, fun and attractive contributes to the engaging have-it-your-way and feel-good experience. You can conveniently shop or drink when waiting for a table. Pros: atmosphere, patio, foods Cons: crowded more

Great location, good food 10/6/2004

Brio is a good, solid establishment. The food is quite good, the flatbread is delicious, the location is great, the service is average. Furthermore, the prices are so reasonable, that it's so easy to just pop in for a casual dinner. We've had both dinner parties and dinner catered from this restaurant and the ingredients are consistently fresh, the dishes are to be expected for a good italian place. My only gripe is that we know quite a bit about wines that I don't need my underaged server making his commentaries. I also very much disagree with the ""new yorker"" that first posted; we're new yorkers with good taste and frequent brio for what it is: a good, casual restaurant. Obviously, since your employer didn't pick up the tab for one of the top restaurants in the city, that's just indicative of the value of your opinion. Pros: Good food, Delicous flatbread, in easton Cons: , Very busy, Could be long wait more

Brio service 9/26/2004

Brio service was very good. All food arrived hot and fresh. Wine recommendation from Server Mark was excellant. Pros: professionalism, atmosphere, food Cons: , tv on patio, aisles close together more

Favorite place at Easton! 7/29/2004

I have to strongly disagree with that last review: Brio is an excellent restaurant in both quality of food and service. Steaks are always excellent, pasta simple and delicious, and the garlic mashed potatoes are to die for. Great wine selection and each waiter I've encountered (three different ones at the time of this review) has been pleasant, quite accomodating (if I can substitute potatoes for soup, you can sub anything) and knowledgable. I highly recommend Brio! Pros: Beautiful atmosphere, Great food & service, Great parking more

fantastico! 7/8/2004

when Brio first opened, I was not overly impressed with the restaurant. new managers came in, and what a difference. the food is outstanding, however, what I find truly outstanding about this restaurant is that all of the staff work together. Everyone busses tables, refills drinks and the manger on the floor remebers us by our first names, and always stops by our table to say hello, see how our food is and always sincerely thanks us for coming in to dine. now that is true Italian hospitality. Pros: excellent staff, great management, valet more

Great Eats 11/4/2002

excellent food, excellent service, and a fun time watching all the hustle and bustle more

Love it! 10/24/2002

Great! I eat there whenever I stay overnight in the city. Pros: Good parking, Good ambience, Good location Cons: A little pricey more

Worth the wait 9/11/2002

Beautiful atmosphere, great food, excellent service. Any restaurant owned by the Doody family can be trusted to have it all and this is no exception. The tournedos are fantastic and the veal is as tender as could be. The pasta dishes are very tasty and the staff is willing to substitute just about anything to suit your desire. There can often be a long wait so it is worth getting your name on the list early, but off peak hours provides no seating problem whatsoever. Not cheap but not overly expensive either. Price is suitable for the experience. Warm chocolate cake is fantastic. Pros: Food, Atmosphere, Service Cons: long wait more

Great service and atmosphere 8/11/2002

I loved this place! The entire shopping center is chic! Children play in a unique fountain outside, which you can watch from the patio setting area! Oh, and the food is amazing! It is a place for trendy shopping and eating! Has a great crowd! Pros: Delicious, Great location, Family APPEAL Cons: small wait, sometimes more

mmm, flatbread! 7/31/2002

i've been to brio many times, and i have always been satisfied. i like to take people that have never been before, because they are always impressed. their flatbread is the best, their potatoes brio are unbeatable and their pasta dishes are simple yet amazing. at times, we have had to wait a while for our food, but to compensate, we have gotten free desserts and many appologies. Pros: great bread, get to see them cooki Cons: expensive more
