Brightside Academy

First I have to clear some things out, because I find myself disgusted about what people write without knowing the truth about everything. First I have to say to that person that wrote about that child that passed away on this site, please get your facts straight, this child did not died at this center but another site that is not the one at 1819 E Allegheny. Second I happen to know that there is no coat closet at this site, since I have children who has been attenting this daycare for several years now. I know that this teachers do care about the children and the administration, work hand in hand with the parents to make sure that their kids are well taken care of and their safety and learning are the biggest priority. I know that situations are bound to happen, when kids are playing and everything else, but I also know that everything is always taken care of and the staff always makes sure that we are notified of the situation and the resolution to it. If anything further needs to be done, the administration takes charge of it and looks for all the possible solutions to it. They always keep things proffesional. I'm always greeted with a smile by teachers and other staff members. I also happen to know numerous families that their children attend this daycare for so many years and they will never take their kids out until they turn 13 and they have no other options. K & A brightside are my kids second family, and the enviroment there is one that makes you feel like you are home. People are quick to jump to conclusion and I just wanted to tell the other side of things, the true side of things... Pros: good staff more

There are some outstanding people there, but you have some terrible ones too.meaning staff. You have the one s that come to work and bring there outside problems with them. When I say this I mean beating on the children there, calling the children bad names and saying there racial slurrs. There was one teacher there I guess who had some write ups for paper work but not for abusing the children. The children were always learning and doing activities in her classroom, the parents felt safe bring the children to her and they fired her when her partner got in trouble, but they suspend the ones who get dhs and the state involved, and bring them right back, I just want to say there's a lot of racial profiling going on in this place as well as miss treating the kids. Who can we trust now?! more

I do not recommend for u to go to this daycare.. This is the most unprofessional daycare I have ever dealt with. I have been to other Brightside Academys and this seems to have the most terrible and unprofessional daycare workers. I will not say all of them are terrible, but most of them are... There is one specificly that is older and needs to retire. She has a child there and cares for him rather than the other children. Those teacher do stick together and try to cover things up. After complaints are made consequences or counseling are not met to my opinion. These workers need a full 2 weeks or so of training and how to deal with other children and children with needs. They expect the parents to abide by their rules and regulations and handle the disrespected or aggressive child in a timely matter but than take their sweet time in handling with their own disrepectful and aggressive childcare givers..... UNLESS YOU WANT YOUR CHILD TO COME HOME TO YOU WITH MISSING LOCKS OF HAIR, I WOULD NOT RECOMMEND THIS DAY CARE TO YOU. MY NEICE WAS MISSING SEVERAL LOCKS OF BRAIDS FROM HER HAIR, STAFF SAID HER HAIR WAS PULLED OUT IN THE COAT CLOSET, OTHER WITNESSES SAID A STAFF MEMBER PULLED HER HAIR OUT. WE REPORTED THEM TO THE PHILA. POLICE, CHILDLINE, DEPT. OF PUB. WELFARE, ETC. HEED THE WARNINGS!! DON'T FORGET ABOUT THE BABY THEY FOUND DEAD ON THE BICYCLE LAST YEAR IS 2006.
