Diamond in the rough!!! 1/12/2011

These reviews led me to the door of this place, I don't drive at the moment so the parking lot thing was not a big deal. Well let me tell you, she DID open the second building so there is PLENTY of parking! The owner is AMAZING and so is the staff! I had my daughter enrolled the very day I went and mind you I was a stay-at-home mom so I'm protective of my little one. My daughter is learning Spanish as well and their arts are wonderful. The school does go on field trips so that is a bonus for the children. The owner has 25 years of teaching experience and her degree is with mentally disabled (not sure if that's the correct word, sorry) so you know how much patience she has just with that. She is very involved in the school and the school's activities. I love the location because there are no busy streets right by it and if you're like me its right off bus route 37 across from the Post Office. Best of luck in your search! more

not the best around but affordable 12/4/2008

i am a former employee of Brandon Day School. while working in this center i saw a lot of different things. the owner is very caring, but seems a little too wrapped up in her own life to worry about the center, the assistant director on the ohter hand was wonderful. she really cares about those kids. she does have a large staff turnover, i replaced a girl who had only been there a week. i was replaced 2months later. i saw a lot of different things while i was there, the staff were very friendly with the parents, and my son was enrolled there while i worked there, they were all wonderful with my son. there are a lot of accidents as there is in any day care setting, but some of them could have been avoided. there are a lot of unruly kids in this center and a lot of parents that dont control their children. on the other hand there are plenty of sweet and loving children ,parents, and staff to make any childs stay there pleasureable. Brandon day school is not by far the best child care center around, but it is affordable and like someone else said, you get what you pay for Pros: caring staff, playground, catered lunches Cons: unhealthy snacks, large staff turnover, small center too many kids more

Fires workers left and right 9/25/2008

Owner fires people left and right. I just pulled my child because my child had three different teachers fired in the last few weeks. I am not even sure I got the truth about why the teachers were fired. My child really liked each of the teachers. Teacher turn over here is bad and maybe if she hired educated people to work her programs she wouldn't have to fire them. Huge issue with parking! Pros: cost Cons: parking, staff turn over, more

Brandon Day School 9/2/2007

Since the new owners moved into the neighborhood, I have watched Brandon Day School become a credit to the area. I walk my dog two to three times a day by the school. In the morning I see kids on the playground who are supervised and pleasant as they come to the fence to see my little dogs. I am a grandmother and look forward to seeing their bright faces. I read a review wherein a woman derided the school by saying it was a ""dump."" I am a retired private school teacher and dealt with parents who wrote letters such as this when they were asked to withdraw their unruly brats. Or, they fell behind in their tuition and then refused to pay by citing that the school was not run properly, etc., etc. Typically, these families leave the public school system as they cannot manipulate them to the benefit of their heathen offspring. They try to use schools in the private sector in this same manner until their children are not allowed to return because of non-payment or anti-social behavior. Without fail, it is almost always a combination of both. I'm sure that the Brandon Day School director and staff were relieved to have that woman and her child out of their enrollment. I'm glad that she doesn't bring her bad energy on my street anymore! I hear only good things about this school. We are glad that reputable people who care about the children live in our neighborhood. more

Great program!!! We are glad we discovered Brandon Day Care 8/29/2007

My daughter in law and three grandchildren recently moved into my husband's and my house because our son was deployed to the middle east for the ""war"". We looked at day cares in our area and could not find one that we felt comfortable with. My daughter in did an internet search on all the day cares in the area and found a poor consumer review on Brandon Day Care so we did not even consider looking at this one. My husband is a physician and has a practice near Brandon Day School and two of his office assistants have children there. I spoke with both of them and asked them if they were happy with Brandon Day School and both of them were very happy. One of them has had her daughter there since she was 2 and she is going into kindergarten this year and is beginning to read. The other office assistant has a 3 year old and a first grader that goes to the tutoring program next door to the daycare. Her first grader gets homework help and tutoring from the owner who used to be a special education teacher for hillsborough county. The afterschool program is in the house next door to the daycare, this is for elementary school children. The owner has it set up very nice. She has a computer room, an arts and craft room, and reading room for the children. We are very happy at Brandon Day school. Pros: Teachers CARE, computers and great learning centers Cons: hard to make a left turn onto pauls from 60 more

Best DayCare/AfterSchool 8/23/2007

My daughter who is 4 years old, has been going to this school for the last 3 years. I have also volunteer at the school on a regular basis. So far, I have no regret in entering my daughter here, I visited several other schools in the area prior to enrolling my daughter here. This summer has been extremely rewarding for my daughter, the trips and the school work which allow her to be ready for pre VK was awesome. Her vocabulary has changed tremendously. The school treats me as if I am a part of the institution, I get involve so therefore I know exactly what is going on with my child, not once was these children left alone. I am already dreading her leaving for kindergarten at a different school. I do believe the staff do go above and beyond for these students. which often times leave me in awe. I believe if you can walk in a school at any given time to see your child, is a beatutiful thing. This is acceptable here. Don't worry about the Kitchen, the children lunches are cater in. They are allow to be children here. more

I don't recommend this daycare for any child 8/11/2007

Idon't believe that this daycare should be opened if they don't know how to watch the children, like they are suppose to! I had all 4 of my kids enrolled at this daycare, until one of my children got hurt from a window getting broke, they called me about two hours after it happened. They told me that my child which is 4yrs.old punched the window and made it bust throwing glass all over,I had to go pick my son up and take him to the hospital because they couldn't get the bleeding to stop, plus they never called an ambuliance to come.At the hospital, he got 6 sticheson his left arm ,and 7 stiches on his right arm.The doctors said that the wounds did not look as if he had puched through a window.S, I'm just a concerned parent letting other parents know, what I went through at this daycare. And another thing that I didn't like about this daycare is when you enroll your child in daycare center you want them to stay there until you get there to pick them up.One day, I went to pick up my children, my two yr. old, and my three and four yr. old was there, but my five yr. old wasn't there; He was at the daycare directors house. along with a few other children. My husband was so upset,he demanded that they never dothat agian. more

Very Pleased 6/28/2007

I have had the pleasure of doing business with Brandon Day School after the new owner took over a few years ago. I have watched BDS change and grow for the better. When I pop in (and I do often), my children are always doing something with their classmates and the teacher. My children enjoy going to school and have had great experiences with the many friends they have made. I am a firm believer in communication between the teacher and parent and I have daily contact with my children's teachers. Because of this contact, I am confident of the high level of care I would expect for my money. It is very obvious the staff there care about the kids, they really know all the little nuances of each child. Whether it is signs of sleepiness or someones who just needs a hug, the staff seem to notice it before the child does. I would recommend anyone to enroll their child at Brandon Day School. Pros: Loving Staff Cons: Parking more

I wouldn't place my child anywhere else! 11/13/2006

I don't know where the previous reviewer was at, but it could not have been at the Brandon Day School. The owner and her staff pride themselves on being the best around. The center is always clean, always well staffed, and best of all, the children are always HAPPY! My daughter loves being there and even sometimes hates to go home. Pros: Owner and staff are awesome! Cons: None! more

Worse than Mis Ginnys 8/1/2006

Brandon Day School is made out of an old home in a crappy area. This place is located in the area behind Denny's. It looks bad and smells worse. The outside looks.....ok, but when you walk inside, you step into a narrow old house, and the kitchen area is old and has missing cabinets. It smells of an aweful odor and needs room spray something fierce, maybe some Glade plug-ins as well. The kids can't even eat inside, it's so small. They have tables outside that look like they are on the verge of falling apart. But who want's there children to day in and day out to sit underneath an over hang eating on nasty tables? And what a great review on this daycare center from that selena person, they must work there or own it. Of course they would say something good, to lure you into this dump. Trust me, when you go there you will see what I am talking about. It is so hard to find a nice daycare, but I would never be desperate enough to put my daughter in this hole in the wall. The prices are cheap, you get what you pay for. NEVER go here! I looked and walked away! I am sure you will feel the same way once you see what a ""great enviroment"" they offer to your children. Good luck and good riddens to bad rubbish, this place is a hole! Cons: The whole place should be condemned. more
