My vehicle has been there about 5 times to fix the AC because of a freon leak. The compressor was changed and the problem continued, in two days the freon was all gone again. Then the fan clutch was changed and in 48 hours the freon was all gone again, then the O-rings were changed and the problem persisted without change, then the "fill valve" was replaced and in 48 hours the freon was again empty. Problem continues to persist, in no more than 48 hours after each "repair" the AC is completely out of freon again. Obviously ... the compressor was not the problem, the O-rings was not the problem, the fan clutch was not the problem. I find it difficult so accept that each of those things was "for sure" the cause of the problem?, yet it is still the same. They have a highly incompetent diagnostic staff at this location and somewhat dishonest. Obviously neither the compressor nor the fan was the problem and those are expensive items I paid for. They paid for the O-rings and checking the fill valve, however ... I am out a lot of money on items that did absolutely nothing to correct the problem ... which still exist. When I first got there i was a little upset that the usual guy wasnt there, he was older, and an experienced tecnician. But as it turns out this new guy is quite knowledgeable and will take you out and walk around the car with you, and SHOW you what is wrong not just tell you and expect you to believe him. He will also insist on showing you the old parts. I had my water pump and timing belt done there, and the dang thing runs better!!!! They told me the timing belt they took off was mis installed,(by the last mechanic) and the engine was out of time FOR THE LAST 100 THOUSAND MILES!!!! this Honda has 200,000 on her and brake specialists will keep her running strong. My AC broke down and you know the summer is very hot, and I heard that this store was running a no charge special to check out AC problems. They checked out and said that it was the O'ring leak and the total for the parts was $46 and $170 for labor. I questioned the $89 / hour service charge that was displayed, the manager Tim said that it takes 2 hours of labor and he discounted some on labor charge. I was a little hesitant about their price and Tim said that they guarantee their work and if the car stops blowing cold air he would take care of it. He also mentioned that he would put in a dye that would let him know if there are any other issues. I said ok (my mistake) and he got the car around within 15 minutes. I went and checked the car, and for sure it was blowing cold air – nice, I thought. I questioned about the labor charges and it did not take 2 hours, and he said that he had already quoted the price, and AC repair is expensive. I paid and left home. Next day, the AC was blowing air – NOT COLD. So I took it back and he pulled up the information on his computer, and after I mentioned that the AC was not blowing cool air anymore, he said he will put it on a machine and diagnose the issue. After about 30 minutes of waiting, they took the car in and checked and he came back and said that the AC manifold hose was leaking, and he checked the dye with the ultra-violet light. Tim then came up with a new quote of $580 ($420 for the manifold discharge hose and $160 for labor). I asked him about his diagnosis and yesterday’s charges and his word to bring it back if the AC is not blowing cold. Tim said that if I can find the manifold hose for cheaper on the web, he will replace it for free and will not charge for the Freon. I looked around for a week and ordered it in Auto Zone for $100 (Tim wanted $420 for it). I took it to Brake Specialists, and Tim does not want to replace it for free anymore. He shows his computer to me and tells me that nothing is guaranteed and he wants $270 labor ($220 - customer brought in parts are 110/hour labor; and $50 for Freon). I asked “what did I pay initially for? “ and he said that those charges are for discharge and recharge. I reminded him that they were running diagnosis for free and the charges are for the repairs and the AC is not REPAIRED. These guys have no ethics; don’t stand by their word, their labor charts don’t mean a thing. This is a Pretty BAD deal. I will check somewhere else to replace my AC manifold hose.
