Good dentist- rude receptionists and fishy billing 10/27/2010

I had the same experience, a cyst extracted but they told me they wouldnt send it to the lab to avoid extra cost...however I did get a bill from stuff the insurance didnt pay for- the panaramic x-ray which really wasnt needed. The doctors are good, but everytime I call to make an appointment the receptionist is cranky and rude as hell. I switched dentists because of the billing and the rude receptionist. more

dubious billing practice 4/23/2010

wow. I had an experience similar to the 1st review. They charged me in a haze and when i saw the bill, I was shocked. They had submitted for payment from my insurance company TWICE, then tried to bill ME for what the insurance company didn't cover (of course they weren't going to cover 4 more wisdom teeth being extracted). When i called to explain, the person was rude and tried to talk to me as if i didn't know what was going on. Pros: fine procedure, friendly doctor Cons: they overcharged me andwere argumentative about it more

Avoid 2/17/2010

I agree with the review above. The billing practices are highly suspect. I would definitely find another oral surgeon rather than be exposed to the potential cost of using this practice. Cons: Billing more

Good doctors but beware of the mystery invoices 3/24/2008

The doctors were great but the way they do their business did not make me comfortable at all. They made me wonder if they were trying to rip me off. They do not tell you what kind of payment to expect in advance, their invoices do not make any sense at all and they pop up at no warning. I went in to get my wisdom teeth removed. When I woke up my wisdom teeth were extracted and they told me they found 2 cysts in my gum so they took them out and send it to the lab for tests. They charged me $900 for the procedure (even though I have insurance) which I thought was strange. I was so sick, I didn't care and I paid and went home, thinking everything is over. Then, I get a $400 dollar bill from the 3rd party lab for the tests they done on my cysts. Then a few weeks later Dr. Carness & Levy's office sent me another bill for $600 for the amount that the insurance company didn't pay. Meaning a total payment of $1500 although I have insurance and another $400 for the 3rd pary lab. I made a complaint as I wasn't told about any of this in advance and that if the insurance company doesn't pay the full amount, it should be between the doctor and the insurance company. After I made a complaint, they dropped the $600 bill which they should have and I'm happy about it but left a horrible impression. more
