Horrible Customer Service 3/9/2007

I have bought numerous items here as I do like their design. In particular there was one necklace which I bought here as a gift. It was a beautiful piece and the receiver loved it, but unfortunately the clasp broke within a few months. I brought it back and was told it would be fixed in two weeks and that they would be charging me for the repair. Although I did think the repair should be free at the time, I let that go. Unfortunately it then took them over 3 months to fix it, at one point I asked them to just return it to me without repairing it which they did not do. Then, when I finally got it back they had put the wrong clasp on it. They agreed to fix it again, and finally I got it back with the correct clasp after another four weeks, so that it was in their shop for over four and a half months. The fact that they still insisted on charging me for the repair was what lost me as a customer. Pros: nice design Cons: horrible customer service more

Lackluster jewelry experience 7/24/2006

Location and handmade-style selection are the draw, but morose service makes for a lackluster jewelry experience. I expected personalized service (and enthusiasm), but quickly left this boutique with my merchandise, like a customer at a takeout stand. Pros: location, tasteful jewelry Cons: cold and disinterested service, no enthusiasm for items sold more

I love this place 10/6/2003

It's tops for fun gifts for the girls, with great necklaces, earrings, and bracelets all in the less than $100 range. And great for a special treat for yourself. Laura Mady has a great eye for colors and there is something for everyone at this tiny boutique. A great place for bridesmaids gifts as well. Pros: designs, helpful owner, unique more

  • The Scene
With a name meaning "butcher" in French, this small jewelry shop pays tribute to the Meatpacking District where it resides. The pink walls and overhead lamp infuse customers with an instantly girly giddiness. Lithographs of stockings and high-heeled shoes adorn the walls, and painted flowers decorate the front of the cashier counter. Of course, all this decor simply sets the stage for dazzling designs.

    The Goods
To buy or not to buy is really a silly question. As amethyst earrings, turquoise lariats and peridot earrings glisten at you from inside the clear cases, your real considerations should be how to match your outfits, how much you can spend and why didn't you shop here before. Freshwater pearls, 18-karat gold and sterling silver are just a few of the precious materials used to adorn Laura Mady's clientele, and creations often come in blue topaz, coral and more.
