Borja Color Studio is Awesome! 5/1/2012

Stunning color, fantastic service 4/18/2012

I discovered Borja Color Studio after getting disasterous color from another hairdresser. I found them in New York Mag's ""Best of"" listings. Danke fixed my color FLAWLESSLY on that first visit (a labor-intensive project for her that she made a pleasure for me--wine, cheese, lovely low-key atmosphere) and I've been going back for 7 years. The color is always PERFECT, it looks totally natural whether I'm getting one process to cover the gray or two processes to add some highlights, and they ALWAYS accomodate my schedule for appointments, whether I need ""the works"" before a big event or an emergency cover-my-roots fix when I can steal away from the office, they make room for me in their busy day. I could not ask for better service, better prices, or a more satisfying experience year after year. And I have seen many of the same faces there with me year after year--there is no better recommendation than a loyal clientele and these ladies have earned that in spades. more

THE BEST!!!! 4/17/2012

I am so glad to be back at Borja Color Studio. Being away for over a year, it was a real treat to finally have my color and highlights done by Danka and haircut by Borja. Nobody could do the color better!!!! I also love my haircut, it is very easy to manage. It is also a pleasure to be welcome with a big smile from staff. Thank you again, your are THE BEST!!!!! more

Gem Salon in Midtown 4/17/2012

I love this salon!!! For being such a fancy upscale salon they ALWAYS make you feel so welcome from the minute you walk in the door! The owner, Borja and her sister Danka are really true artists - blow dry, color, highlights...you name it - they're the best!! I've sent multiple friends to Borja Color Studio - brides, bloggers, and models and they have all been 100% happy with the results.....not to mention while your getting pampered they serve you a nice glass of wine :) If your looking for a wonderful salon experience and brilliant results? Color at Borja 4/16/2012

Many NY hair salons are all about the 'show off' not quality of service. At Borja, they are courteous and unpretentious, yet classy. It is a most professional hair salon. The atmosphere is friendly and relaxed and they don't make me feel that I need to impress them when I walk in. On the contrary, they try very hard to impress me by making sure they do a great job. I have been going there for hair color for a decade. Danka is an artist with a keen eye for the right color shade and the head massage I get when the assistant washes my hair, toppled with a glass of the best Chardonnay anyone serves on 57th street, complete a perfect experience in one of the best hair salons in the city. more

Went to Borja Color Studio on sveral occasions and was more than satisfied each time. Borja advised me against having my increasingly white/gray hair colored or dyed. She insisted that my color was avery natural and flattering color and should be left alone. She did give me an EXCELLENT haircut which made me appear 10 years younger. This is certainly not a salon that pressures you into having unnecessary work. Can't believe that Borja would allow someone to walk away unhappy and not offer to do something about it. I am certainly a committed client. more

Terrible! 4/2/2012

This woman knows NOTHING about ethnic hair. She completely burned my hair and I looked like a rooster when I walked out. She should not have charged me a penny for the terrible highlight job she did. I took a picture of the shade I wanted which could not have made it any easier for her but she didn't even come close! What a mess. I had to go to another salon to fix it. Paid $80 to color it over on top of the $260 she charged for the botch job. Don't be fooled by salons in the city. They don't necessarily do a better job. I just found a GREAT color salon in the Bronx with reasonable prices that did a great on my hair. more

Best Salon in New York 10/12/2011

Fantastic from start to finish! She did a quick assessment of my hair and described, step-by-step, what she had in mind. I gave her free reign to cut my hair as she pleased. She kept with a more conservative cut, only trimming a few inches, and fixing my layers, but it made a huge difference! Also, my color was to die for! They were very friendly and professional. I was constantly offered something to drink or a magazine to read . While I was there I saw several men get their haircut and most seemed like regulars... which I'm inferring means that they love getting their hair cut there as well. With out a doubt, best Salon in the big apple. Run, don't walk to this place!! more

Been Going for Years 11/19/2010

I have been going to Borja for years after a good friend recommended her studio. She and her staff are all fantastic and accommodating. My hair looks totally natural and wonderful for weeks after a visit. It is always a pleasure to go in , read great magazines, and be pampered by experts. On a personal note, at one time I was going in for serious surgery and they even gave me touch up materials that I could use myself and offered to come over if necessary (I live close by). I will never forget that kindness. Go for the expert and wonderful experience which you will be certain to receive! more

From the moment you walk in, until you leave you are pampered. Beatrice gives you a shampoo that feels like a mini massage, helps to destress., to all the extras she does for you. Then there is Danka who pampers you with a delicious wine or an earl grey tea. Borja is the complete professional, it is a wonderful feeling to have a person that knowledgeable doing your hair color and or highlights. She is absolute tops in the field. The service is individual and accommodating. To bad they don't have massages! more

Best Colorist in Manhattan 10/30/2010

I spent years enduring the snooty attitude and inconvenient appointment times of the major salons until I found Borja and Danka 15 years ago. This salon is simply The Best. It is small, unpretentious and dedicated to accommodating the client. Borja and her team work well into the evening in order to fit their clients' busy schedules. The staff is warm and very friendly. Most importantly, Borja is an expert at creating the best hair color for each individual. She is a master at repairing the damage caused by other less skilled colorists. There is no one better. I have made it a priority to schedule all of my out of town trips around my visits to Borja. I would not let anyone else touch my color. more

Borja and Danka are artists! I discovered this salon a year ago and have been coming back for color, highlights, cuts and styling ever since. I always leave happy. Brilliant Brazilian Keratin Treatment 7/19/2010

My hair already has the perfect golden hue thanks to Borja's magic wand and highlights...and NOW my locks have been transformed to sleek, shiny, care-free goodness thanks to Danka and her Brazilian Keratin Treatment. My hair looks like I spent the usual hour getting ready this morning, except it took only 10 minutes. Actually, it looks better than anything I could achieve on my own, regardless of time, and the best flat iron out there. I was sixteen years old when I went to Borja Color Studio for the first time to get my hair done and I remember feeling like a true princess. Getting pampered by her outstandingly friendly and caring staff and having my hair done by New York City´s best colorist herself in this elegant environment-I was amazed! Now, twelve years later, I still get the exact same feeling every time I go there...Borja´s unique coloring technique and her amonia-free colors combined with her expertise of many years do true miracles to your hair. It takes half the time and leaves you at least twice as beautiful! Plus-if you ask her to do something to your hair that probably won´t look good, she will tell you right away instead of just doing it and taking your money for something that won´t make you happy. You know why? Because she truly cares about you and the way you look! I´ve been to many different salons all over the world when I was away from New York and I was always disappointed because nobody was ever able to do highlights like the one´s you get at Borja Color Studio.
