Why go here in such a cultured city 4/17/2006

In a city as vibrant and full of culture as Philadelphia, why would you go to the big ol' chain bookstore? There's Robin's, the Wooden Shoe, Book trader, the Friends of the Free Library even run a book store! Put your money back into local folks and projects and don't shop here. more

it's okay 3/17/2006

Great location at Broad and Chestnut, but their shelves are sloppy and disorganized, with piles of books sitting on the floor in the aisles. Unless you’re looking for a new release or a ‘classic’, it’s unlikely that you’ll find what you’re looking for. Good selection of magazines, okay selection of music and DVDs. Women’s bathroom is often lacking TP. more

I love this place 2/28/2006

This place is huge. It's so nice to go in and get a book or magazine and a coffee and spend an afternoon. They have nice loungey chairs and theyre 3 stories tall so, there's plenty of room. My sister likes to sit on the floors in between the shelves and spend all day there. It's cheaper than buying the books and nobody bothers you. more

Nice place to relax in Center City 2/5/2006

The Center City Borders is three stories tall, and a good place to kill some time while in center city. Grab a magazine or short story collection and kick back in the cafe with a coffe - nobody will bother you about how long you're there. Impressive collection of products aside, this is the best reason to visit Border's in Center City. more

I also love this Borders 1/29/2006

Right near Lord & Taylor, this Borders is one of my favorite shops in Center City Philly. It is on three floors in a former theater/cinema, and so you'll notice a lot of detail and moulding, which just adds to the excitement of shopping here. They have a really good selection, and you can shop while watching the citylife outside. Pretty neat! What's kind of odd though is how the store has checkout on the first floor, a cafe on the second, and then the rest of it is on the top floor. Lot of stair walking just to get to most of it. But there is an elevator. The prices aren't bad, really. They're about what I pay across the bridge in Jersey. more

Superb... 6/28/2005

Borders is awesome, but I've been particularly pleased with this one during my visits. I browse bookstores frequently, mostly interested in digital arts, photography and fantasy fiction. Although the store seems like it is small, I've figured out that this borders had some of the rarer titles which I wasn't able to find in most others. Overall my borders expectations are generally good, but I was surprised at the inventory in this one. If you like these subjects, you should take a look here. more
