Good selection, but not a great experience 5/21/2006

When I lived in Washington DC, I was a huge devotee of Borders. I found it comfortable, and one of my afvourite places both to browse and to hang out and write. This hasn't translated well to the New York stores, which I find to be antiseptic. On the plus side, this location is huge and is always less crowded than any Barnes & Noble I can think of, but it's not as relaxing, nor as fun to go to with friends. Good if you're looking for something, but not a fun shopping experience more

UES Borders Bookstore 12/27/2005

Three level bookstore - takes a while to become familiar with where everything is. They have a computer you can use to search for your book which will tell you the exact section and shelf to find it and online you can search a store inventory to be sure the book you want is in stock. Frequent coupons online to use in store but they will only let you use one coupon per purchase - sign up for email to get coupons. DVD section is small and limited and prices tend to be fairly high compared to Best Buy and other retailers. Not as crowded or noisy as Barnes&Nobles and they have a wider selection of fiction. more

Good bookstore. Better selection. 7/29/2005

Many books available here but they are not that easy to find. Store is somewhat mazelike downstairs and there are not many salespeople available for help. Online, you can locate the book's exact location in the store or reserve a book for pickup. On the plus side, Borders does have a broader selection of books than Barnes and Nobles and the store seems quieter and less crowded than Barnes and Nobles too. Additionally, if you sign up for their email online, you will get a 30% off coupon now and then. more
