The clerk had been helpful before; I got the jump start on a great cat book for my granddaughter. So today there was no customer service; the clerk behind the register just staye...

Not accommodating 10/22/2010

The clerk had been helpful before; I got the jump start on a great cat book for my granddaughter. So today there was no customer service; the clerk behind the register just stayed there. Didn't interact with the customers or the very many delightful children. Bought my book and then left. Somehow a block away the book was gone. I asked for a discount on a replacement. The manager later called with the information that no books were found in the store. They had just what they were supposed to have. I'm just out of luck--no discount on another copy was offered. Perhaps the book slid out of the bag and disappeared. They would have had a lifelong customer had they had offered to let me buy it at cost. Next time I'll be more careful. more

The best book store 2/21/2010

When I go in I always come out with a book, or two. I can't say much, but I really love this place. They also support the neighborhood, which is always good. Pros: good selection, great staff and now COFFEE! more

Greeat local indie bookstore 5/19/2002

A well-stocked, pleasant, if somewhat bland independent bookstore, that seems to be holding its own against the encroaching B&N just across Atlantic Avenue. They have a great fiction section, and a very well stocked local section, especially focussing on Brooklyn. The Staff are very friendly and knowledgeable. They'll special order anything you can't find in the store. There are also frequent author readings and events in the store. more
