Happy Hour without the Buffalo Wings 5/9/2006

Not everyone likes French fries and chicken strips for happy hour. So Bonzai is a great happy hour alternative. It's relatively empty but that's why it's happy hour! The staff have been great (attentive, friendly) and the food is good too. I go there when I want something light and relatively inexpensive. more

Completely sucked! 4/30/2006

The unagi donburi I had there for lunch was really bad. They smothered it in raw onions, mushrooms, and entirely too much sauce. There was a lot of food, but couple that with incredibly poor service and I wouldn't recommend this to anyone. more

ton of food for lunch 8/20/2005

This is one of my favorite places to go for lunch. Bonzai has been open for a couple years, and got most of its fame from having naked sushi events. But I go here for the lunch combos. The bonzai lunch combos allow you to choose from two entrees- sushi rolls, tempura, teryaki, etc and also includes miso soup, rice and salad. Come here really hungary, because I have never seen anyone I have come here with finish it all. All this food for around $8. yum, yum more

Sushi In Pioneer Square 6/28/2005

Bonzai is a trendy little restaurant down in Pioneer Square. As the name suggests, it serves Asian (mostly Japanese) food. Anyone familiar with Wasabi Bistro up in Belltown should recognize similarity in their style, menus selection, and price range because they share the same ownership and target audience. Their food definitely pricier than your average sushi bar, but they also do have one of the more creative/non-traditional menus, eg. "Las Vegas Roll", a deep fried eel, crab, avocado, cream cheese sushi roll. A full menu can be found on their website at http://www.bonzaibistro.com/web0804/sushi.html. Bonzai is very conveniently located within 5-10 minute walking distance of Safeco and Qwest Field, so definitely make it one of your stops when down in the Pioneer Square area. more
