Amazing food, pleasant atmosphere 3/9/2006

I just went to Bombay Grill last night for a special occasion, and I was really impressed.. The service was good (they watch your water glasses like hawks, though), and the staff was very nice. To drink, we had a mango lassi and a chai. The mango lassi is practically a dessert, and although served in a very tall and skinny glass, is worth the price. The chai, on the other hand, came unsweetened but with a small box of sugar and sweeteners, which I really appreciated. We had eggplant bharta and malai kofta for dinner, both of which were spicy and flavorful, and enough to take some home with us. Finally, we splurged on the dessert platter ($9.99) which came with baklava, a slice of cheesecake, and a sweet carrot dish (I forget the name). The desserts were good, but I don't think I would get the platter again; it wasn't as substantial as the waiter implied, and I don't usually buy desserts in restaurants anyway. more

Featuring thali specials on weekends 12/19/2005

After lunch buffets end, I'm reluctant to go to Indian restaurants because I only get the option of one plate instead of the many I get in the afternoon. This is where the thali plate comes in. If you're heading north of downtown, find a good thali special (they serve three different ones) at Bombay Grill. Beyond the multi-dish meal, the restaurant offers a large selection of other Indian fare, as well as lassis with just the right thickness. If you're looking for something tasty somewhere with more sophistication than the plastic booths and tables that line the Ave, this is your place. (Note: the added ambience shows up in the higher prices. Our thali specials were $14.95 a plate.) more

Great Indian food! 8/18/2005

Bombay Grill is the best Indian I've found in Seattle to date. If you are a vegetarian, their options are extensive and their prices are good. I had nearly the best ever chicken tikka masala at Bombay Grill. And their naan is fantastic. I think they deliver in the neighborhood (University), too. more

Okay place 8/4/2005

I am never overly impessed when I go here, but go mainly for the convenient location and a place to get together with my friends. There is nothing really bad about the place, the staff are friendly and the drinks are good.. Definitely worth a try. more

Feel like Indian royalty 9/3/2004

This place is an excellent choice for a night out, dinner for two. The food is absolutely delicious. Every time I go there, I have the best Tandoori food or curry. Their service is prompt, and refills on Chai are plentiful. The atmosphere is elegant and unique, with warm, dim lighting. The only con is that it's slightly pricier than the other Indian restuarants in the area - about 5 bucks per meal more, and more if you get one of their daiquiris or other drinks (something not available at many other local Indian restaurants). If you're on a budget, you may want to save this location for special occasions. more
