Great Gym 6/21/2010

I have been a member for more than three years and this is a great neighborhood gym. The biggest plus for me is that it a couple of blocks from home and has pretty much everything I need. I also had a great experience working with one of the personal trainers who was extremely knowledgeable and dedicated and helped me achieve my goals. They also have a very good lineup of classes and many more than I initially expected. Contrary to some of the reviews here they were very flexible with putting a hold on my account recently when I made a request. One drawback is that it is a limited space but I hear they are expanding so that should not be a problem going forward. They also do a great job with regularly bringing in new equipment. I would definitely recommend this place. Pros: Trainers and classes Cons: Small Space more

not so good at all 11/5/2009

i would take the extra walk to one of the others around. i will never go back. i dont know what some of the others are seeing. at best this place is ok only because it is near home. Pros: short walk Cons: to many to list more

Great Place 10/12/2009

This facility is very decieving to the eye. You walk in and see only a floor of cardio equipment but when you start to walk around become amazed at how big the place is. They have a wonderful staff and a very convenient towel service that makes you want to sweat. They have a very clean and tidy facility that offers wipes to wipe down equipment and also always has a fun promotion going on every once in awhile that makes it interesting. They are always updating the club with new equipment or giving it a new fresh by always adding to it. This is a private gym so you dont feel like your part of the corporate world and you can just be yourself and be apart of the family instead of the company. Pros: Great Staff, Large Facility, Very Clean and accomodating Cons: No Elevator..but it is a gym more

Sneaky Gym 11/2/2008

This gym is way too cramped. A gym like this needs to have a limit instead of trying to rake in all the cash they can get. It isn't a nieghborhood friendly gym, it is one of those gyms that makes people regret ever joining a gym again. They are very friendly when you join and then something snaps when you unfortunately have to break your contract for whatever reasons. I first joined on a month to month basis, (which I recommend, if you join at all), I was going out of town every now and then for months at a time so I didn't want to sign a year contract. Well it seemed I would at last be home for a good stretch and so I relented and signed to one year. Going well and then, boom! I was called out again for 3 months. I HAD to actually show up to cancel my membership, what a pain. I told them I had to go out of town and had to release myself from the contract but that my husband and I would like to join in the future. I had three months left. They charged me the $100 fee PLUS 2 of the remaining months! I was livid. Basically I was charged more than the original contract! These people don't think about the future of their business. Only what monies they can retain now. Well we will go elsewhere, to a bigger place for the same price or less with nicer people. Thinking about the NOW instead of the future will see that they have no future. Your typical sneaky gym. WAY too crowded. Pros: convenient Cons: Just want as many people to join as possible, not friendly or accommodating in the least. Bad business policies. more

Not worth the $$ for such a small gym 10/31/2008

I used to love this Gym! it is a mom and pop gym with small classes and decent equipment. Unfortunately the gym does not run like a mom and pop when it comes to a membership. I was told multiple times by different staff (including the owner) about the gym membership/ cancellation policies, but when it came down to it, they are only looking for $$$. You would think differently of a small business (in a neighborhood that should try to preserve small businesses), but I would recommend a membership at a bigger gym where you will pay equally large amounts of money but get a wider variety of equipment and classes. more

Great Classes 10/18/2008

Ok, so I'm not a huge fan of doing the same routine over and over and this gym really helps me out with that. Yes, it has the customary cardio floor, weight equipment on another floor, and now the leg machines are all in one room, though this makes it a bit cramped while doing legs and the only reason why I not give it a 5 star rating. But...I love the classes. The yoga classes has its own studio thats more quiet and soothing, and the other classes are held on its top floor studio with high ceilings and wrap around windows. They have traditional sculpting and spin classes(in a separate room) but they got ""fun"" classes like ball cardio conditioning and ballet boot camp! I thought i was going to fumble through these ""fun"" classes but the instructors really break it down and I'm getting a workout without feeling like its another mundane routine. I give this gym props for offering something different and not just repeating what every other gym does. And it helps out that they have a daycare where I can bring my toddler with me so I can keep working out on a regular schedule. Only in Brooklyn, I say! Pros: great classes! Cons: leg room a bit cramped more

FINALLY! THE BEST OF EVERYTHING!!! 7/17/2008

I have been to several gyms and health spas in my life and this one is by far the best! Very innovative and incredibly clean. The entire staff is knowledgable on all levels of fitness and nutrition. Body Elite offers a variety of services, classes, and state of the art equipment. The hours of business are fantastic since they open early and close very late. Very affordable and staff is super friendly and helpful. The trainers are wonderful and on top of their game in all facets of diet, exercise, and health. The owners are fantastic people and are always looking to better serve their clients. They try to resolve and work with their customers as much as they can. I can't understand how anyone could have a complaint when this club constantly delivers on all levels. I recommend this gym to anyone who is a health buff down to a beginner! Pros: THUMBS UP ALL THE WAY! more

Not such a great experience 7/2/2008

I was signed up for a 1 year contract with no start up fee! Sounded great! During my year there I felt the gym was ok. It's too crowded at night, & this is mostly because it closes so early that if you have job (which everyone does) you have to go to the gym straight from work & everyone in the neighborhood (with jobs) is there as well. The classes they offer are great, but almost all classes are offered during the week day. Once again, if you work, you can't attend. I stopped going to the gym for a few months while I was going through finals at school & deadlines at work, when I returned the women at the front said (very loudly),""You haven't been here in months! You gotta start working out!"". Not only was this a bit embarassing & rude, but I also don't need someone to be on my back about going to a gym I PAY for, I am hard on my self as it is. The year I signed up for ended in June, & I was not going to renew my contract. July comes & I was charged for the month. When I called to ask why I was charged for the month, they said I had to physically come in to cancel my contract? Last time I checked if you sign up for a year, after a year is over your contract is over. Well not in this case, the gym will continue to charge you until you can come in & cancel your contract that is already over anyways, this is in the fine print of the contract & not explained when signing up! I went into the gym to cancel & even though I wasn't going to be there all of July, they would not reimburse me the 70$ because I cancelled July 1st & had already been charged! The girl I talked to explained this nicely and apologized for them not explaining when I signed up. However, their boss walked in & was SO RUDE to me yelling I wouldn't get my money back for july even though it was the 1st & I wasn't going to use that month. Over all the staff (mostly there boss) is rude, it is crowded, not work friendly, and they will not accomodate you in anyway if you don't read & follow the FINE print! Pros: Nice Facility in a Nice Neighborhood Cons: Staff is rude, unaccomodation, not worker friendly! more

The Best gym in downtown Brooklyn 4/16/2008

If you want to experience a focused and productive workout, this is the place to be. The staff and members are extremely friendly and have a great gym etiquette. Their knowledge on fitness is refreshing and informative. This place is user friendly and has all the latest equipment and classes out on the market. Prices are economical and the trainers are top notch. NO nonsense gym with a lot of neighborhood warmth. more

Great Neighborhood Health Club 4/21/2007

This is a follow up to this club. I see that some people have given this place a bad review because of their policies. I have been a member for a long time and everyone who signs up, and alot of my friends have joined, know exactly how to get out of their membership. It may wind up costing some money to leave the club, but how do you expect the place to stay open if everyone thinks they can cancel without $$$. As far as mom and pop is concerned, it never had that kind of a feel, it definetly is more like a neighborhood gym which is totally different. If mom and pop was Jack and Mrs. LaLane, it would be a different story. If it were any cheaper, it would be like all the rest of the chain clubs, crowded, dirty and no one would get a workout in. Let's face it people, you would not have joined the club if you did not think the place was at least good. I know for a fact that there is no fine print and your just venting because you did not want to play by the rules. Keep up the great work guys and I will keep recommending this place. HAX Pros: Immaculate locker rooms, huge cardio area, great personal trainers. Cons: More spinning classes. more
