I absolutely love this place! I live right next to it so I go there all the time. They have board games you can play there and I often see parents and kids playing together, so cute. There are always people there, even in winter, and I can see why. The ice cream is amazing! I've tried a ton of their flavors and they let you try them before you buy. I would suggest a kids cone, unless you want to be really sugared out, because that is more than enough for me. Their drinks are great too, but seriously, get their ice cream! more

A must! 6/7/2006

Feel like an ice-cream? This is the place to come. Once you have tasted Bobtail's ice-cream you just don't go to other places anymore. The atmosphere in this store is soooo cozy, I can spend hours in it. People watching is great as well. Try the Signature Sunset (Merlot Choc Chip) it is absolutely devine! more

Great atmosphere and ice cream 11/20/2005

My favorite ice cream place! Situated on the corner of Broadway and Wellington, Bobtails is a charming corner store, with seating outdoors in the spring/summer. It has an old-fashioned '50s feel to it (including the music and decoration). It attracts a young crowd due to its convenient location in Lakeview and is usually full in the evenings. The ice cream is delicious (homemade, with a few special Bobtails flavors), but I think most people go to hang out - great atmosphere, adorable decorations/music, and a fun place to run into friends from the neighborhood. Good customer service - the place is always very clean. Pros: Atmosphere, Location, Fun crowd Cons: No parking more

Wandered in there by chance and had their peach ice cream. Best peach ice cream I have had in many years. I have not eaten there, but have been back for the ice cream twice. Will go again tonight. I feel badly for the reviewer who had a poor experience at Bobtail...because it's become my favorite spot in all of Lakeview, and maybe all of Chicago. Fantastic ice cream, AMAZING grilled cheese sandwiches, and every Bobtailer I've talked to has been nothing but delightful. For a place that's been open for what, 2 months?, they've really established themselves brilliantly. Pros: Good value, SMILING FACES, Delicious desserts more

I have absolutely no idea what that guy is talking about and given his other postings from the same day its clearly not genuine. This place is amazing. The staff is incredibly friendly (ask for Grace), it's the best looking store I've ever been in, and the ice cream is amazing. Spend one night there and see for yourself. Chicago's Best Ice Cream!!! 6/1/2004

Bobtails is the best ice cream I've ever had. They have interesting flavors such as a merlot chocolate chip and peach ice cream with real peaches. My favorite is the waffle sundae. They take a belgian waffle (my favorite is the maple), cook it right in front of you so it's warm, top it off with a scoop of icecream, some fudge, and whipped cream. It is the bomb and a must try! more
