service needs to improve 1/30/2011

Boba Latte has just lost a long time customer. The problem started when I had to wait nearly 15 minutes to order and receive my drink (honey green tea). It's simple and should take less then 30 seconds to make. Why did it take this long? Well, there were 14 people waiting for their drinks too. But that wasn't the root cause. The drink mixers were trying to make everyone's drink at once. I guess it's a natural human tendency to think time is saved by pouring several drinks at once but it's not always the case. In fact, it's prone to error and pissed off customers. NM the fact that my drink turned out way overly sweet or that there was no apology for the super slow service. So, I called and left the owner (Julie Dai) a message for her to call me back. She never did. I wanted to give her suggestions for improvement and explain some basic lean concepts for her employees to learn. But because Julie Dai never called back, I'm going to have to rate this place a 1 star and never come back. more

One-Of-A-Kind 2/6/2010

I've experimented with other bubble teas around the city and I would have to say that Boba Latte's classic milk teas have won my heart. The menu is ginormous, and maybe even a little intimidating at first, but the employees are always willing to guide you around the menu, explain to you your options (sweetness level, combining fruits, etc.), and make honest recommendations. I love the casual environment--from the music to the cups to the interior design. It really makes you forget about the stress of propriety and business, and allows you to simply share the love for those sweet tapioca pearls (or jellies if the pearls don't suit your fancy). It's not an extravagant drink store, but it's down-to-earth, just the way I like it. more

Yet another bubble tea option in Richardson 4/6/2006

Boba Latte is a popular bubble tea joint in downtown Richardson. What distinguishes it from the millions of other little places in the area that sell bubble tea are its intimate atmosphere (limited seating) and its selection of unusual flavors in addition to the typical almond milk tea and mango slushes. Their employees like to invent their own drinks, and sometimes they even put actual chunks of fruit in your drink. I recommend getting one of these unusual beverages if you go, because their run-of-the-mill flavors are in fact somewhat mediocre. The employees are really friendly and this seems to be a more diverse location than the nearby Lollicup, Tapioca House, and others, as it attracts more non-Chinese customers and even the employees are from many different backgrounds. One thing that bugs me is that they don't have the nifty seal-on caps that let you shake your drink w/o worry of spillage; instead they have normal "click-on" plastic lids. Still, it's a good place worth checking out. more

Boba Latte 4/4/2006

Starbucks, move on out. Bubble tea is making a huge hit in Dallas and Boba Latte is there on the frontier. Boba Latte caters towards the non-Asian crowd by having their entire menu and staff in English. Their selection is not that wide, but they have at least 60 different drinks. I really like the fact that they use actual fruits in their drinks and that you can choose from a vareity of drinks. Plus: They take credit cards! more

I've had better 10/21/2005

This place is tiny inside and the drinks served there are hard to understand on the menu. The drinks can be a bit too sweet and the pearls do not have a very good consistency. It can be a bit too quiet in there to the point where it feels uncomfortable. If you want some boba, just drive down the street to Lollicup instead. more

Good place to go to relax 8/9/2005

Boba Latte offers a casual environment where you can chat with friends, do homework, and just enjoy a nice cup of coffee. They offer a variety of drinks, but go for their boba (tapioca balls added into drinks). There are an endless amount of choices, and you can even create your own flavors! more
