This is a great historic place to get a late night meal.

Basic burgers and fries from the days of Happy Days. I prefer Sonic for this sort of thing, but the drive in is cool and they have car shows here a lot. more

the burgers are the bomb here. If you have doubts about thousands islands dressing, this is the place to go for it. Great location and stuff here. more

I LOVE BOB'S BIG BOY! I don't know why they mostly went under but when I'm up in the T. Lake area and I'm hungery this vintage Big Boy is always on the top of my list! more

Get your burgers somewhere else! 7/27/2010

I was very excited to visit a piece of my childhood. My boyfriend and I went to have some Lunch this past Sunday afternoon. It wasn't busy, yet the front booths were occupied. As we walked in,one of the two girls at the front pointed at a booth for us to take and being accustomed to casual dining, had no problem with not being walked to our table. We sat for a while chatting and reminicing about our Bob's experiences as children and noticed that we hadn't received menus yet. We looked around and waited for someone to come by to ask. One waitress made two trips to two of the three tables to one side and I turned and notice a second waitress tending to the tables behind us. Another server was staring off into space at another section and the two girls up front were still doing something at the register. After about 10 minutes, I notice a manger walk out and suppose that he may walk by to draw his attention and instead he stood up front for a while then quickly crossed the restaurant with a slight glance and no recognition that we had yet to be attended to. I clocked in two more minutes then we got up and left. No apology, no acknowledgement. Pros: Wouldn't know. Cons: Worst Service Ever! more

Worst Food I have had in memory 6/16/2009

What a horrible experience this was. After getting our drinks we found out that the ice tea tasted like water. Then after waiting for 20 min we got our order taken. After the food arrived we ended up eating some of the worst stuff I have ever had. The burger I got was a defrosted, reheated, hunk of flavorless junk. The fries with them where freezer burned. My girlfriend got a piece of garlic toast topped with flavorless turkey and out of a jar gravy. Mash potatoes which where just that. Mashed up potatoes with nothing else in them. and a side of cold slaw that was just chopped up cabbage in water. This would have to be one of the worst meals I have had in a long time and would ask everyone to stay away from this restaurant if they want to have a pleasant evening Pros: The Lighting Cons: Everything else more

Nostalgic Burbank Burger Location 5/2/2009

A classic burger hangout in Burbank, I've been going here with friends since junior high school days. I'm a pushover for the blue cheese dressing, and bacon burgers are my favorite. I have not ordered much other than my usual... bacon cheeseburger, fries, blue cheese dressing, and a chocolate shake. I won't say they are the best burgers in the world but something about ""growing up at Bobs"" has me continuing to come back. Pros: Plenty of Parking unless lot filled w/classic cars Cons: What could be bad about eating meat, bacon, and chocolate? more

A definite landmark restaurant that still thrives 1/23/2009

You know it really gives you a terrible feeling when you read about other people's delimmas such as finding a small live worm crawling around on the veggies in their food. But, considering burgers do have tomatoes, onions, and lettuce, actually this could easily happen at any restaurant offering this kind of product or similar fare but, did two different people in their group really need to review with the same exact complaint on the same day? If you accidently ate it before seeing it, I'm sure it wouldn't hurt you, but at least it wasn't something worse, like a c**kroach. I've been a customer of this specific Bob's location since the late 1960's, for more than 30 years. I can say I've never had an experience like this and even if I did, it wouldn't stop me from going again. Another diner complained that the food no longer tastes like it once did including the salad dressings among other things. I still eat here a couple times a month and the selections I have eaten still taste to me, like they always did. Yes, I'm sure there have been minor changes over the years but not enough to make a big difference. I happen to know that certain products like their Bob's special relish and the salad dressings have been made to secret recipes since their introduction years ago, they have no reason to change them. Read for yourself, most all the other reviews say what they should, that this is a great place to eat so give it a try and have some lunch and a bit of nostalgia sometime. Pros: Great original double deck burgers, historical experience, nostalgic ambience Cons: Parking on Friday classic car nights, long waits during busy meal periods more

this one deserved a first review for me 12/3/2008

so you walk in, its got the 50's diner vibe, actually quite pulls it off, i believe they even have car stop service on weekends, which is very nifty. food is not wolfgang puck, but it tastes fantastic. waitresses are nice, quick, atmosphere is very humble, i can see it geting quite packed and loud on weekends though. ordered the new york steak, can honestly say it was a pretty damn good steak for 11.50 with all the sides and salad! in short, i wish i lived closer to the area so i could come out more often, but this place definitely beats dennys or ihop. and not to mention fridays are classic car shows! wahoo! Pros: very good tasting food, low prices Cons: cant see parking lot from inside, doesnt matter much though more

Ruined Dinner 11/22/2008

I just finished telling my mother-in-law about Bob's Big Boy on Riverside Drive and raving about their delicious burgers when the unexpected just seems to happen on the worst of times. Right in the middle of consuming my favorite bacon cheese burger my 5 year old daughter grabs our immediate attention saying, ""There's something moving on the purple vegetable (purple onions)!"" After looking at it more closely it was a tiny little worm with green rings around it. It wasn't your slow to re-act sluggish kind, but it was a worm that advances speedily. Let me be clear, this burger was served to my sister with an active, alive worm creeping and crawling all about in her burger unknowingly. We concluded that the worm came from the burger lettuce and good thing she took it out before eating her burger. more

Beware of lettuce worms 11/22/2008

I honestly love Bob's big Boy and always enjoy the Bacon-Cheeseburger. This time my experience wasn't all that great. Lets just say I'm so happy that I took out my lettuce. Pros: burgers Cons: lettuce more

Better when the old man ran it. 8/31/2008

Bobs gave up fresh cooking their food, and also gave up their unique seasonings and salad dressings decades ago. Pros: Car service on weekends, good service Cons: Food is horrible, and the prices continue to rise. more

Best tasting burger in the world 6/28/2008

I have been eating at Bobs for over 50 years... and still fly 5000 miles once a year to eat at the Toluca Lake Bobs.... I have eaten at the best in the world and from Haut cuisine of Paris to all the"" best Burger places in the world. The result is plain and simple.... Bobs beat them all. Pros: the Big boy Cons: other addons to the basic menu more

Classic! 6/11/2007

Family is very welcome here. Lot's of great memorabilia to look at. The food is greasy but good. If you want a classic greasy burger with fries or a yummy shake, this is your place. Pros: Great atmosphere. Cons: Greasy more

Nasty! 2/20/2007

Their vegetarian burger is utterly disgusting. I have never had anything that tasted so bad. I would rate Burger King and McDonald's veggie burgers as a higher quality than theirs. It was nasty, soggy, still somewhat frozen, and the fries were burned. I was so excited to come here, and they let me down. They took forever to serve me and I was just a takeout order. The employees just stood around without helping me or taking my order. Pros: The location? Cons: Bad food/Bad service more

an old classic 11/13/2006

Bob's reminds me of when I was a kid and was taken here for brunch. Now a days, I go here for a midnight snack or a late dinner. The club sandwich is pretty good and also the tortilla soup. I don't recommend the philly cheese steak though. Normally, it's not that busy when I go, but I've heard that it can get pretty busy around dinner time. The food isn't the healthiest, but the service is good and the food normally comes out fast. And they have crushed ice in their drinks!! Pros: lots of parking Cons: not too healthy more

Beats Dennys and attracts a more interesting crowd 11/2/2006

I was first introduced to Bob's about 8 years ago for the Friday evening car show. I used to drive out from Pasadena to grab a burger and check out the hot rods. Little did I know that years later I'd be living down the street from it! I've frequented Bob's more often than would probably be considered healthy. I've been there for breakfast and dinner, at all hours of the night and early morning. The service has varied greatly depending on how crowded it is and who the server is. Overall they're decent. There's not much in the way of healthy eating but it's good enough. The real attraction for me is the people-watching. Where else at 3am on a weekday can you see cops and punks eating side by side? (and with the most interesting results!) I've had just about everything on the menu. The Chicken Parmegena is decent, the milkshakes are thick and tasty, and their sandwiches are good. The other thing is that Denny's isn't open 24hrs. I've seen this place packed on a weeknight even as late as 10pm--so be ready to wait. If you're flying solo; sit at the counter--there's no wait for that. Pros: strange and interesting people late at night Cons: can get extremely crowded at peak times more

Awful food. 10/27/2006

I don't think I have ever ordered something that tastes good here. I suppose there is some nostalgia asscociated with this restaurant but I have no idea how it got a 9.3. The food quality is so poor, I wouldn't recommend it to anyone. Pros: The Bob's Big Boy out front. Cons: The food, service, and pretty much everything. more

I Heart Bob's 10/10/2006

Tucked away in the Toluca Lake area is a piece of American pop culture. As you enter the parking lot the ever vigilant Big Boy greets you with a smile and a beautiful burger. This is the home of such classic dishes as the Big Boy Combo, Pappy Parkers fried chicken, chili spaghetti, more

Never again! 4/8/2006

No one greeted us at the door...we had to find the kid taking names. Waited too long. DeeDee was a very nice waitress---only good thing I have to say about Bob's. Other wait staff acted too cool to be of service. Food wasn't good. The place is a little on the dirty side too. Pros: DeeDee Cons: the wait, the food, the dirt more
