Excellent service and nice people 11/14/2009

I have brought many, many machines to McDougal's and the service has always been top notch. During busy times, I have had to wait up to 3 weeks for my machine - but that is pretty normal when it comes to machine service (especially when it's complicated work). This has never been a problem for me, as they take time to tell you an estimate when you drop off your machine! Pros: Great location, fast service Cons: ? more

Great service, honest merchant 9/10/2009

I bought my Brother SE350 sewing machine there. Things I like about them: 1. HONEST MERCHANT. I'm new to embroidery. They did not show me the most expensive model. Quite the contrary--they started by showing me the cheapest model. They honestly assess that I'll likely not need the fancy modes just yet. They do have trade-in possible if I outgrow this machine. Also, they do not pressure me to buy extra accessories (They did ask if I needed any accessories--I said no and that was the end of the story...although I ended up going back buying some accessories once I realized I do need them). 2. TRY BEFORE YOU BUY: They let you try their machines out in store (you can try it out quite extensively) before buying them. I wasn't allowed to do this in another Singer sewing machine store. 3. FREE CLASSES--Free sewing and embroidery classes with machine purchase. The instructor is rather knowledgeable--and gave me great tips on embroidery. 4. FAIR PRICE. Not as cheap as you can get online or at walmart, but it comes with the sewing classes, personal help to accelerate your learning (can call or bring the machine in to ask any basic question--help with threading the machine, setting things up...etc.). And it comes with some sort of service warranty. So in a way you're paying for that. The price is still very fair, and I got mine for $100 lower than the MSRP price. 5. QUICK SERVICE. Due to user error, I broke a needle on the machine and had to bring it back to ""realign"" the needle. The technician happened to be available and he immediately worked on my machine, and got it ""fixed"" within 30 minutes without charge. I saw in the other review that the service was bad--i wondered if they were just busy at the time, or that the machines may require more difficult work. They worked on mine very promptly and I was very happy with the whole purchase, classes, and service experience. Pros: honest merchant. Knowledgeable. Great service more

Poor Service 1/22/2009

Brought in 3 sewing machines to be repaired. After 2 weeks, they still have not started. He said they would not even look at them for another week. He said to come and get them if I wanted them back. I went and got my machines back unrepaired. Do not recommend for repairs. more
