Love This Place!!! 7/3/2010

Whenever we are in the area, we stopby at the Boat House. The quality of the food and service has remained consistent. The staff is friendly and even without reservations, they help us get a good table and the seafood linguini is worth the trip. Pros: Good Service, Great Food more

Awesome View, average food. 3/8/2009

Great view. Fast service. Very loud inside. Good grilled and fried seafood. Sauces are too strong for my taste. The shimp & girts are the worst in Charleston, they should come with a fire extinguisher. more

Best Seafood and Sunset Views East of Charleston's Cooper River 2/6/2009

This is one of the best restaurants for fish in the lowcountry and everyone else has started to follow their winning formula for ""Simply Fresh Seafood"". They don't serve frozen like many other local restaurants like Hyman's and The Crab Shack. They also have the best location east of Charleston to watch the gorgeous sunsets from the crow bar on the upper deck of the restaurant. The success of the formula is proven by the long lines every night of the week. It's worth it. I don't know of anyone who doesn't love this restaurant and would be highly suspect of someone who would recommend East Bay Deli over it. Go and enjoy! Pros: Beautiful Interior like the inside of a custom yacht. Valet parking more

Spoiled Fish and Poor Service 8/22/2008

Seafood Alfredo was spoiled. When we told the server it was as if he knew but offered no remorse or concern, he only asked if it smelled fishy which he could see for himself because only a small portion was eaten, Just enough to make my husband very sick. Poor service and spoiled food are enough to keep us away for good. If you're lookng for some good food try out the East Bay Deli - awseome food and reasonable prices. more

Atmosphere, atmosphere! 9/24/2006

We waited for our table at the roof top bar- during sunset. The view was divine and so, so perfect. Our dinner was to die for! We had an appetizer of calamari rings and crab cakes.... we both had lobster and steak. We also love The Boat House at Lake Julian... the location at Breach Inlet is a little more casual, but still a great place for a birthday dinner! The waitress brought cake and candles without our request.... Pros: Atmosphere- roof top bar- GREAT food Cons: No champagne at the roof top bar! more

Great atmosphere and service. 7/15/2006

The food was good and the service matched. There weren't any waterfront tables available while we were there but, the interior tables were fine. I would say it's casual enough for children but, a little pricey for little appetites. Also, parking appeared to be pretty sparse if you choose to self-park rather than valet. Pros: Waterfront Cons: Parking more

Just OK 6/13/2006

With all the other dining options available, I would skip this one. I wonder if the Boathouse in Charleston is much better. Dining is casual. The kid's meal my son had (chicken fingers and smoked gouda mac and cheese) was really good. I actually liked his meal better than mine. I had the pan roasted scallops with a truffle asparagus, corn risotto. The risotto was pretty good, but the scallops had that not so fresh chemical taste. My husband had a surf and turf which was nothing special. Dessert which was a strawberry cheesecake was ok too. Pros: Service was good, valet parking Cons: so so food more

Perfect Seaside Seafood 7/13/2005

Boathouse is the ideal seaside restaurant: Very fresh seafood, relaxed atmosphere, and an impeccable view. Come at sunset and watch the sun go down from the rooftop bar overlooking the bayou. Simple dishes like fried shrimp gain dignity from the incredibly fresh shrimp they use. Each bite has slightly salty explosion of shrimp that is lost in most fried shrimp now-a-days. Shrimp with grits has 5 too many ingredients, but the grits themselves are very well done. Oysters on the half shell couldnt have been out to of the water more than a couple of hours. Very satisfying after a day on the beach. Make reservations if you dont want to wait an hour or so at the bar. Pros: Fresh shrimp, fresh oysters Cons: shrimp&grits more

Boathouse IOP 8/3/2004

This is a great place to come to dinner if you spend the day at the beach, or even toured downtown Charleston. The very laid back, casual atmosphere makes you feel right at home. I am a regular and the chef makes sure that the food is consistent. I have never had a bad experience, with food or with service. I would highly recommend this lowcountry restaurant any day of the week! more
