I wish i could put more stars down for this place...OMG!!!! I'm telling all my friends about this place .I love it soooooooo much!!!!

Worst

Cooking is not just adding condiment. Need to understanding balance of them. Just too much salt in all dishes. Pros: service Cons: taste and price

Outstanding food and service 12/1/2006

We just had at BluePoint one of the truly outstanding meals of our experience which includes 14 years living overseas in places like Brussels, Belgium (where food is the national sport); Frankfurt, Germany and San Juan, Puerto Rico and 34 years in international business. The food was obviously prepared with tender loving care, the sauces tasty and delicate, the sushi unique and flavorful and the wines expensive but worth it. The bill was astronomical but it was a special occasion so we felt that we got our money's worth. The service was constantly attentive and anticipated our every wish including a birthday dessert which we didn't announce but which the waiter picked up when he saw the gifts. We did go early at 6:30 on a Friday night, so we beat the crowd. And when we left, the bar and waiting area were packed. They may be over booking. But I cannot help but wonder if the folks who wrote such negative reports went to the same restaurant we did. Or, maybe they were some of the ones in the mob scene waiting when we left at 9:30. One wonders if the management may be assuming one hour for dining when the actual time was more like two and a half hours to take advantage of all the appetizers and deserts with which they successfully tempted us.\r \r more

Great food, bad service 11/17/2006

We ate at Bluepoint on Friday night. We had a drink at the bar and were seated about 15 minutes after our reservation. The food was great , but our service experience seemed to be par for the course. Not good.\r Our waiter spent about 1 minute at our table the whole night. The backwaiters were on top of bringing our food out in a timely fashion. By the way, the spicy shrimp appetizer and Sea Bass are outstanding. The problem was that I could not get anyone to bring us our check. When our waiter finally appeared at an adjacent table I flagged him down for the bill. He brought it over and it had an item on it that wasn't ours. It was only a party of two and I cannot remember the last time this has happened to me. I would like to see a waiter's expression if I made a $10.50 error in his tip in my favor. He corrected the bill, dropped it off, and ran. I had to go to the check in stand to pay the bill. I spoke with the manager, who was very appologetic, and took some items off of the bill. \r If you want to eat a good meal in a trendy restaurant and can tolerate some bad service, this is the place. Pros: Good food Cons: Suspect service more

Spectacular food, but pretentious service 11/15/2006

I agree with the service complaints. They have improved a bit and they appear to be willing to improve upon it even more. You still get the sense that the servers, matre de, etc are too fabulous to give you service. However, when the food comes, it was worth the awkward, conversation generating, ""what the heck is her problem."" We had tuna, seared and coated with peppercorn, seasalt . I can't remember a time before or after where tuna tasted so good. Our appetiser, oysters of varying types, were of such high-quality that I wanted to chew them despite my typical systemic reaction when eating shellfish. Pros: Food Cons: service more

Poor Service, arrogant manager. 11/1/2006

We went dining on Thrusday evening. Had reservation. After 1 hour and 3 drinks (which we did not pay due to the dicussion that erupted because of the wait time), they moved us to our table. Food and service is ok, nothing special. Most overrated restaurant in the South. Pros: Ambience, drinks Cons: Poor service more

Contrary to prior reviews ... 8/20/2006

We went on a Saturday evening. Though we waited a few mintues at the beginning until mgmt notified our server she had a table, the rest of the evening, meal and service, were great. As always, the food was delicious and more than we could eat. The waitstaff do a great job of ""tag-team"" - covering for each other to ensure our food or drinks or miscellaneous needs of a napkin or such are not left unfulfilled. \r The sushi was good, the entrees (lobster and sea bass dishes) were flavorful. Our drinks never ran dry. The staff was attentive but not too intrusive. \r Having spent time in Europe and used to a leisurely meal of 2 + hours at a time, this was fast by comparison, but a very lovely 1 1/2 hours of enjoying each other's company, and the food too. \r I always recommend it - though not for meetings - it's too open and loud for that. Pros: service, food Cons: noise level at times more

Horrible experience 7/31/2006

Although the food is good, the service is impossibly slow and inattentive. They are trying so hard to be classy and trendy that they really miss the mark. The servers are inexperienced and not properly trained for the type of restaurant Bluepointe clearly wants to be given the prices they charge. And to top it all off, the patrons at the next table were intoxicated and shouting obscenties throughout our meal... a classless end to a very disappointing dining experience. Pros: food presentation Cons: service, ambience, overpriced more

poor service, poor atmosphere. DO NOT HAVE A MEETING HERE! 7/23/2006

Is it me or do the buckhead life group restaurants seem good the first time, then always lose their luster quickly. I just attended a meeting upstairs here and while the food was decent, there was no airconditioning. That's right it was 85+ degrees in there. The maitre de should have spoken to us, apologized, or given us some sort of comp but was nowhere to be found. more

Not worth it! 7/5/2006

Nothing about the food was good, not even the bread. We had sushi and a meal, both were bad. We left feeling hungry and wanted to stop at Wendy's on the way home. Did not even get dessert because everything else was so disappointing. Service was really slow. Only good thing was my martini. Meal cost was about $120 for two people and was definitely not worth it. I would not even go back if I had a gift certificate. more

Food not so good 5/15/2006

We went with a group of 6 people for Valentines Day and were very disappointed in the food. We were seated in a semi private room away from the best part of the restaurant. The service was rushed, the meals were all average. Every meal was served as a protein not a complete meal. Left feeling unfufilled after eating a 4 course meal. Would not go back. Pros: atmosphere Cons: food, service more

Clueless in Atlanta 1/14/2006

My husband and I had the most clueless, indifferent waiter. I asked for a drink when first seated. 20 minutes later the waiter had not come by with my drink or to check on us for anything. I reminded him of my drink and he said there was a wait at the bar. All I asked for was a glass of wine- not too dififcult. We ordered dinner and a bottle of wine to accompany dinner. Appetizers come, no wine. Entrees come, no wine. 3/4 way through dinner our waiter saunters over to the table with glasses, no wine. I told him he could keep his wine because in a few more bites we would be finished. He got huffy, walking away, never apologizing or trying to make amends for his error. Too many good restaurants to waste time on bad ones - Even when the food is good. Pros: food, atmosphere Cons: terrible wait staff more

Lackluster service taints experience 10/25/2005

From the moment we requested a booth, the service went steadily downhill. ""We've had lots of requests for booths,"" came the curt reply from the hostess. A simple, ""I'll do what I can"" with a smile would have been sufficient. Her visible contempt suggested we really weren't worth the effort. After the second hostess spilled our drink on the way to our table, she assured us a replacement would be forthcoming. After 15 minutes of waiting that was clearly not the case. Our second waiter proved to be the only one at the restaurant with a sense of humor. Next time we need to entertain elderly houseguests we'll head to Bluepoint. Otherwise, we'll wait for them to lighten up and remember there are lots of restaurants in Atlanta and loyal customers require effort. Great service can make up for average meals; however bad service can turn a good meal sour. Pros: atmosphere Cons: service more

what has happened? 8/24/2005

what happened to bluepointe? This used to be one of the coolest places to go, have a drink, grab a exquisite bite to eat. Martini night isn't what it used to be either. I don't even recognize any of the faces at the bar anymore. You used to be able to go in and see the same bartender that you saw the month before and even the year before. At least the food is still great, which is why I go back. Pros: food Cons: declining night life more

below expectations 8/12/2005

Bluepointe must be on the decline. We went with high expectations, but left underwhelmed. Our martini glasses were wet (and apple martinis well below expectations), our sake arrived after we finished our sushi and the pan-asian food would only impress those who've never tried ethic food in their lives. Perhaps it was our timing. We started dinner around 9:30pm on a Saturday night. The waiters were friendly but inexperienced - not something you want when you spend hundreds of dollars. Glad we went, but only because we now know not to do it again. Pros: Decor Cons: Service, Food more

User review by darrenschuyver 7/5/2005

I definitely was impressed by the service. I would rate their services as excellent!!! In addition to an A service, the ambience and the athmosphere really made me ease up abit after been working all day. However, if there is a little thing to improve, the lobster I had for my dinner wasn't really good as the previous one. I just could tell the difference..............it didn't taste good as before. Well, but I still will come back. Pros: service, ambience, martinis Cons: quality of food more

For the business expense set 8/3/2004

Bluepointe is strictly for pretentious knuckleheads spending their company's money on clients or new employees or whatever expense reason they concoct. No mature adult would go here more than once for the food or ambience. I was surprised at how many 50-ish gentlemen in sport coats had brought their nieces out for dinner; it was very touching. If you are on the company's nickel and have little imagination, Bluepointe is right up your alley. You won't even notice the indifferent, condescending service nor the ridiculously overpriced entrees. Only clueless newcomers would venture into this establishment, and let's hope, not more than once. Pros: my guests, attractive women Cons: , prices, attitude more

Great experience overall 2/18/2004

Pros: Beautiful decor and very cool lighting effects on the wall behind the bar ... efficient and prompt service from wait staff and bartenders ... personal royal treatment ... delicious salads and entrees ... yummy martinis. Cons: Hostess was a bit snappish (stressed for seemingly no reason as the restaurant was NOT that crowded, odd for a Saturday night) ... the ""coffee pot"" dessert was a joke (small, ridiculous-looking, not very tasty. Pros: service, martinis, atmosphere Cons: dessert more

best service in town 2/11/2004

I have never had more delightful evening in my life. I dine out regularly, and what a place!! The service was incredible and our waiter, scott was the highlight of our evening. It was as if he had tasted every wine on the list. he was easy to joke with and impressed my clients and I greatly Pros: service, cuisine, atmosphere more

Horrible Service 10/29/2003

Two thumbs down! Service is horrible and the food is average at best. We waited 45 minutes for our table and we had reservations. The host was rude and no one apologized for our wait. Our waitress was nice but she had way too many tables. We had to ask for everything, more water, chop stix & soy sauce for our sushi, cream for coffee, steak knife for a steak, etc. One friend's steak was overdone and the other friend's scallops undercooked (she asked for well-done, they were barely medium). I had the lobster dish and it was average. Needless to say, I was pretty disappointed with the entire restaurant. After this night, I met a friend for drinks in the bar and two men broke out into a fight in the bar. I will never go back to this restaurant, even for a cocktail. more

Great fun and great food. The martinis are fantastic -- I had a cosmo, but my friends had the bluepointe martini and it was great! Pros: Great food, Great Service, Good parking Cons: Expensive, Crowded more

more than I expected 4/4/2003

I was pleasantly surprised having driven past BluePointe hundreds of times without ever venturing in. I took a date for Valentine's and although it was very crowded we were seated within 30 minutes of our reservation. Our server was wonderful - although very busy she took the time to make suggestions as appropriate and visit with us. The food (from a fixed-price menu) was very nice and left us both wanting to visit again. Not a place that I would go to on a regular basis but will definitely keep it in mind when visitors from out-of-town are in Atlanta. Pros: food, service more
