Best

My husband and I love Blue Ribbon. Sometimes we try other places, and we are always disappointed because nothing is as good as Blue Ribbon! We love their burritos and ribs! And...

Worst

I came here expecting decent food, but was instantly let down. The meat tasted like it had been sitting out all day and the collard greens were overcooked and vinagar-y. The foo...

Blue Ribbon, for sure 5/16/2006

There's a reason you can always see the line backed up at Blue Ribbon Barbecue, and it's not just because the place is small. This tiny, crowded joint serves up some amazing barbecue (try the pulled pork or the sliced brisket for a sure bet). The staff are friendly, and if you place your order ahead of time (which you should, since there is little room for loitering), you can hop to the front of the line to pick up. more

Great Atmosphere, Pulled Chicken 5/14/2006

You can smell Blue Ribbon Barbeque a block away on warm nights, and if you like meat, you'll be right at home. The pulled chicken here is really tasty (I get the pulled pork at Redbones) and a full meal with sandwich and two sides is pretty cheap. The interior is decked out in vintage everything, complete with spinny stools at the window, which gives it an old-school feel. I tried the collards and found them limp and vinegary, but maybe someone from the South can tell me if this is as good as it gets. Everything else? Damn tasty. Very crowded at dinner hour and on weekends, so don't come expecting to sit down. Not open late. more

Terrible BBQ 3/19/2006

I came here expecting decent food, but was instantly let down. The meat tasted like it had been sitting out all day and the collard greens were overcooked and vinagar-y. The food tasted like food served at a summer camp. I'm not sure how this places survives, unless I just visited on an off day. I did enjoy the vintage-style atmosphere and the pump-your-own bbq sauces though. Now all they need to do is get the food right :) more

Best BBQ I've had 12/16/2005

I don't think Boston has anything that compares to KC or southern BBQ, but I enjoy Blue Riboon once in a while. Jake's is also good, but think they might only be doing catering these days. more

Bringing the Southern BBQ pit to the Northeast 8/18/2005

My husband and I stumbled upon Blue Ribbon BBQ about three years ago when we moved to the area. The smell of fresh, smoked, bar-b-qued pork and chicken drifted for blocks. After discovering the endpoint of the tasty air, we decided to give it a go. Since then, we have taken every friend and family member that has visited us to this restaurant. And each time, we usually get a call within a week or two asking us to ship them some of that great BBQ. For a BBQ joint, they have a variety of meats, side dishes and desserts. My particular favorite is the pulled pork sandwich served with their baked beans and coleslaw. When I am feeling particularly famished, I will finish off the meal with one of their delish Congo bars. Anyone with eyes bigger than their stomach should try the sandwiches before the platters. The sandwiches give you more than enough of that BBQ pulled meat goodness. The platters are almost too much. more
