Finally! Just GREAT HAIR. 10/25/2008

I was first introduced to Paul Kovacevic's work when he did the hair for all of the models in a fashion show I was in a couple years ago. I've been going to the Blue Chair Salon ever since. Paul is truly passionate and professional about what he does, and it shows. At other salons, I had anxiety before appointments- tearing through magazines, wondering what I should ask for, hoping to find pictures that I could use to communicate to a hairstylist who was ultimately just showing up for the money, not because they love what they do. Not the case any more! I walk in to the Blue Chair Salon, and I walk out with an amazing hair style & color that exceeds what I thought was possible, every time. I secretly think Paul's a 'hair whisperer'. Oh, one more thing that I appreciate- he's focused on your hair, not gossip and drama! Pros: Professional/exceptional hair color & cuts minus the chi-chi drama. Cons: Parking in the NW area can be tough, give yourself extra time for that. more

Best in Portland 10/11/2008

I have been seeing Paul exclusively since I?ve been in Portland, about 4 years, and he has consistently given me cuts and color that exceed my expectations. He?s given me style changes over the years that have the current feel, even with the same length hair. The best part is how long lasting his work is?I?ve gone months between cuts/color and the style has grown out beautifully. I trust Paul 100%. He?s attentive and truly seems to love what he does. Best Salon In Portland ! 6/28/2008

If you are searching to find a salon that delivers amazing cuts and lovely color in a wonderfully welcoming environment than look no further than Blue Chair Salon. I first found Paul after reading a review on citysearch after a string of less than satisfying experiences at several salons, I did not expect a miracle, all I really wanted was for someone to engage my baby fine hair with a little creativity and to get a proper cut that worked with the texture, fine hair can be a drag. Paul gave me truly one of the best cuts I have ever had, very much in keeping with my Vidal Sasoon stylist on the east coast. Color proved to be a bit tricky with the mess that had been left behind from previous efforts, but we worked together over several visits and have finally arrived at the most luminous shade of platinum blonde, i have never left the salon without getting compliments on the street. I have been very impressed by the work of the other stylists as well, my head has been turned quite a few times by some outstanding work exiting surrounding chairs. I cannot speak highly enough of this salon, do yourself a favor and give them a shot!!!!! Pros: everything Cons: nothing more

WONDERFUL WONDERFUL!! 4/7/2008

I don't usually post reviews, but I just had to show some love for Paul and the Blue Chair Crew. I have bery hard to manage curly hair, and paul managed to give me the perfect cut for Oregon's rainy climate....no more frizz!! Just a beautiful layered cut that flatters my bone structure and highlights that bring out my eyes. I feel 10 years younger and 10 pounds thinner! Now THAT'S a great STYLIST!! Best Hair Cut, Best Color...Awesome Salon 2/28/2008

I moved here from Los Angeles three months ago and began my search for a great hairstylist and color specialist. First I tried Dosha since I used Aveeda products (23rd & Glisan)...very nice space...very pricey (I don't mind paying for a great cut and color believe me.) but the cut & color was mediocre at best. Best Hair Cut and Color! 10/10/2007

I am very picky on who does my hair. I was having one of those "i hate my hair days" so I couldnt get into my regular stylist so i did some research on citysearch and called Blue Chair Salon. It was a saturday night and Ward was kind enough to take me in as his last client for the day. I was a little nervous at first because this was a place i have never been to. But i'm a risk taker. The second i walked in the door Ward was so friendly and i felt like i've been going to him for years. He was very understanding and actually sat down next to me and talked about what i wanted done with my hair. He made me feel so comfortable and he does an amazing job at both color and cut! All the stylists in the salon are great too, wonderful personalities. Oh, and ask Ward to sing for you he has a great voice! I will definately be one of Wards new life long clients! Thanks Ward! The Best in the Northwest! It's great to find a specialist who will listen. He really understands the issues with naturally curly hair. I now have what I call "MOVIE STAR" hair. Ward at Blue Chair is Fabulous 9/16/2007

Ward at Blue Chair Salon gave me a beautiful cut last week. His demeanor is welcoming, warm and generous, and he asks a lot of questions to understand just what I want. I've been to him once previously several months ago, and have remained loyal. He brings a lot of knowlege to the process, and recommended some products without giving me a pushy sell. I felt that he tailored his expertise to give me something unique - something appropriate to my face shape and style, and aligned with my personality and lifestyle. He's an artist on many levels and has an intuitive gift for offering a cut or style that is in harmony with your personality. So rare and so very cool. more

Okay, so I'm ashamed to admit it, but I've been basically doing my own haircolor for the last year. It started out innocently.....I just couldn't be fit in by my other stylist.....so I went off to the beauty supply store and bought a cap, some bleach and away i went. The second time, my husband helped, so we both had invested pride in the project.....but I am school teacher, and the school yearbook photos don't lie...... I needed some serious help!! I'm so grateful to all who have added positive comments about Paul.....he really is the best. I came to him with great expectations, and I was not disappointed......i needed a color correction from a high end salon that shall remain nameless.....but Paul was without fear....he took my Ronald McDonald red, and turned it into a beautiful head of incredible bordeaux.......I knew it was the prefect color when I saw my eyes "pop"...I have green eyes with an amber fleck...and Paul instictinvely put the exact amber flecks in highlights to balance my color......I don't know how he did it..... more

Great overall experience! 9/10/2007

Coming from out of town, it was nice to find someone like Ward to do my hair. He took the time to go over exactly what I wanted and also suggested things that would look good with my face type. Ward was very friendly and talented. The salon is very clean and comfortable. I highly recomend him and the salon. more

awsome hair cut 9/5/2007

This was the secound time I came in to have my hair cut by Ward. He gave me an awsome cut for my hair type and I can style it in a lot of different ways, I love it. He also did a treatment on my hair that has made it really shinny and feals great. Ward is a fun and interesting person to talk to. The shop is very comfortable and It's nice to be in the Northwest area where there is a lot of other stuff to do before and after. I highly recommend Ward at the Blue Chair. more

Just moved to PDX and destiny sent me to see Ward. The universe is awesome and I left with a hairstyle I am happy with. Ward is very patient and actually takes the time to listen and found out exactly what I wanted. I walked out of there happy to call Portland my new home. Ward talked with me about the haircut I wanted for about 10 minutes, and suggested a great cut that worked well with my hair type and my face. I really felt like I was part of designing my haircut, though I suspect in reality it's 100% Ward - it's clear he has a lot of experience. Ward is the MAN! 8/25/2007

I just made my second appointment with Ward. The first time I went to him was the first time in Portland I have been totally happy with the cut I was given. He listened. He knew how to cut naturally curly hair, which, it seems, throws most hairdressers. I have gotten cuts that looked lifeless and sometimes just plain strange from hairdressers whose own hair was straight or those who were recommended by friends with stick-straight hair. It took me a while to figure out you have to search for someone who's able to work for you and not some higher concept of their own. Ward is the first I've found. And I am 54 years-old. more
