I have been going to ALLISON at Blu for 2/7/2012

I have been going to ALLISON at Blu for two years and have gone through many, many, many hair changes. I have gone from barbie blond to fire red and back to blond again. She has been very helpful every step of the way taking fantastic care of my hair!! She also did my hair for my wedding as well as my six bridesmaids. She had never seen most of the girls hair and they all loved their final looks. She has amazing taste and I can just go in and say do what you want and it always turns out perfect!! But she will also do just what I want if I have a cut or style in mind. I would highly recommend her to anyone who is looking for a great stylist. She makes my hair look and feel like a billion bucks!!! more

ALLISON has been my hair stylist since beauty school so to say I've tried everything I could possibly try with my hair is an understatement. No matter what I throw at her, red blonde brown redish blonde short long bangs no bangs, she can tackle any request and rock it. ALLISON is well worth the money, I couldn't begin to count how many people I've referred her to, and I would be LOST without her amazing skills and beautiful smile! more

Blu is fantastic: professional, courteous and a wonderful atmosphere. Alison is AMAZING!!! I would NEVER go to anyone else. She is incredibly talented, able to do even the most challenging requests with ease and she has a personality to match. She is my forever stylist! Do yourself, and your hair, a favor and try Blu, and ask for Alison! more

Done with Blu 12/6/2011

Can't keep appointments, it has happened twice in a row now. The first time, I was okay, it happens but the second time I ""wasn't in the system"" I said that's it. Good thing I called both times to confirm or I would have showed up to find out I ""wasn't in the system"". Too bad because they had a great stylist, Trish. more

Time for a real review 10/11/2011

I had Peggy as my stylist. I had a groupon coupon. The haircut was ok at best. I made the mistake of not asking the price beforehand. After the cut I asked her how much I owed and was expecting to hear zero. (my haircut was 1 level up from a bang trim) when she told me another $25 I almost fell over. First of all, I've been to many very good reputable salons downtown, pearl, sellwood etc and I have never been charged $65 for a basic haircut. When I've paid in the $50 range, I got a very good haircut. I'm sorry but Peggy is not in that category. Not even close. What good is it to buy a groupon coupon if the prices get jacked up when we go to redeem them? Do yourself a favor, ask the stylist you choose how much she charges BEFORE you sit in her chair. The worse part of it all? I still need a haircut!!! more

so i got a groupon for the blu a salon so that my daughter could get a hair cut for her birthday present. and for first day of school. i was pay $20 get $40 worth. before i bought it i looked online at there website to see the prices it was pretty reasonable so i got it. i called and made a appointment today thinking the hair cut should be $25 and there would be enough for a eyebrow wax? and also give a $5 tip. she got her hair cut then i asked how much guess what it was $45 JUST FOR THE HAIR CUT!! so i had to pay extra and no eyebrow waxing.i told her about the website prices she said oh well i charge $45 and the lowest person charges $40 what kind of male cow dropping is that .... i told the girl they needed to fix the website prices cause if i knew that before i got the coupon i would of got this one that you get deep condition, hair cut, hair color, and style for $55.. if you ask me its a WAY BETTER deal... more

I was hoping for wonderful, based on other reviews. It was ok. Parking was a little difficult. I will try again, but next time I'll ask for a specific stylist based on other reviews, like Trish for example. I made my appointment with whomever was available. Mistake on my part!! more

SO THANKFUL FOR TRISH 6/6/2011

I have been coming to Blu for a year now. I heard about Trish (my stylist) from a friend who has the same hair as me... Straight, fine and volume-less. I have had bad hair cuts for years now, it gets tiring after awhile, but after having Trish cut my hair I have (honestly) never been happier. She knows how to cut fine hair to give it body and volume without giving you a ""bob"" cut. I live in Spain currently, but I am so happy with her haircuts that I wont let anyone else touch my hair, I just hold on 5 or so months till I pass through Portland again so that Trish can give me a trim or cut. That's the other good thing, her cuts really last! Thank you Trish for everything, especially for helping me love my hair for the first time in my life! more

Charlotte Whitcomb--GREAT! 4/8/2011

Had my first ever appointment at Blu yesterday. Charlotte was my stylist. She did an AWESOME job!! Wonderful shampoo/scalp/neck massage--very relaxing. I like the atmosphere of the salon--comfortable, friendly, professional without being pretentious. Charlotte is very friendly, knowledgeable, and really heard what I was saying. I am so happy with the job she did. I LOVE my hair. I now have an appointment with her for color! Thank you Charlotte!! more

Ash Benincosa without question is the BEST! 3/12/2011

Ash far and away is the best hair stylist whom I have ever seen and of whom I have ever heard from other people. I give her free reign on my hair to do whatever she wants because I am fully confident that it will be as amazing as she is a stylist. I have gotten more compliments from people after each hair cut and even weeks afterward, which is really important in getting your hair done. Not only is she amazing at cutting and coloring but she is also very knowledgeable about product and has never let me down. Oh, and between you and me, she is as pretty, stylish, and personable as she is good at styling hair, which is always a great bonus. I really look forward to going back to her and only her as long as I have hair. more

Love Jill and Tricia 2/28/2011

Let's just say that I'm picky. Jill cut my long, somewhat wavy hair into a style that looks better than any haircut I've ever had! My hair is more wavy in some areas and straight in others and she gave me such a wonderful cut. She's easy to talk to, but not too chatty and listened carefully to what I said. Tricia cut my 10 year old daughter's hair that is very fine, very straight and very blonde. Needless to say, every little cut is quite visible. It's the best cut she's ever had. We will be making the long trek from Tualatin back to Blu! Thank you, Ladies! more

Soooo excited I found Tricia at Blu! Not only did I feel comfortable right off the bat, but when I met Tricia it was an instant connection--with my hair! She knew exactly what I wanted without me having to say anything! She actually cut my hair almost two months ago now and I continually receive complements on my cut. Aside from the cut being catered to my curly hair, they use great products--Bumble and bumble (geared for curly hair) and Pureology (a natural and more organic product). It has taken me a year to find a great stylist in Portland and now that I have found her I am telling everyone about Tricia! Thank you Tricia and Blu! more

Allison is Amazing! 9/24/2010

My friend turned me on to Blu a few months ago when she took me to a Ladies night. She introduced me to Allison and I have never gone anywhere since! Allison asked me something NO other stylist has ever asked. ""So tell me what you like about your hair."" I told her and she tailored my cut to accentuate those things. When you go back she always asks how the cut she gave you is working for you, tweaks it there is something you are struggling with, and makes sure you are satisfied before you leave. I went in today and said I thought I was ready to change it up a little and Allison went with my ideas, gave some good input on changing the length, and I walked out feeling so pretty. The staff are all very friendly and they take the time to actually show you how to style your hair to make the cut look it's best. You really do get what you pay for when it comes to a good cut and all the Bumble and Bumble products they use smell amazing. more

Seriously, if you want to get a good haircut, check this place out. I was never one for very fancy haircuts, but my friend convinced me to give it a try. My first haircut went a little something like this: I walk in and tell Ashley that I have no idea what I want, and I'm a guy so I don't know what looks good, so do whatever you want. I LOVED it, it was a great cut and went back for the next 6 months in Portland. She really helped me appreciate a good haircut. If you want to look good, check this place and Ashley out! more

I have been going there for almost 7 years now! My wife has been going there for about 6 years as well! I am very picky with my hair and I LOVE Blu! They are so friendly and the vibe is awesome! I am great friends with the owner and know first hand how passionate she is about hair and beauty as well as how much she instill's that into her AWESOME staff! Forget the ""Barber Shop"" dudes and treat yourself to a real haircut. They even give gree ear and neck trims! more

Blu A Salon is a fashionable, artsy, and fun hair styling experience-and Ashley is the cherry on top. She is without a doubt the sweetest woman alive. She is so young and hip and easy to talk to....and let's not forget how GREAT she is at doing hair! She sees my vision and gets it spot-on every time. She can do any hair style and in any color-whatever you want. As long as I live in Oregon, I will never go to another hair stylist. Don't settle for less, chose Blu A Salon and make an appointment with ASHLEY!!!!! more

Two thumbs up for Ashley wonderful talent of cutting and styling hair. Ashley is great about listening and delivering exactly what I want every time (and it always looks great). Also Ashley is highly experienced and can assist to evaluate what haircut/style will look good to the individual. Ashley cut, colored and styled my hair for a few years and I ALWAYS loved it! I am so sad she left So Cal to go to Portland because I still haven't found a stylist that compares to her talent and style! Highly recommended! If you ask for her, you won't have to go to another stylist ever again! (Unless I somehow get her back to So Cal...) more

Amazing, everytime! 6/21/2010

I have been going to Blu A Salon for quiet some time now and always enjoy the experience there. I have been seeing Sasha there for almost 5 years now. She is the best hair stylist I have ever had! Love her! I've gone from waist length hair to a cute pixie cut, Sasha has really helped me find best cut for me. Sasha is also amazing with color. I'll admit I was a ""color virgin"" before I met Sasha, but now I love getting new highlights and trying different colors. I always get an amazing cut and wonderful service when I visit Blu A Salon. Even if I just go in to pick up some Bumble and Bumble products, everyone is very helpful and friendly. Pros: Comfortable and professional atmosphere, wonderful stylists Cons: None that I can find more
