Best martial arts school in Austin 8/13/2013

I found that Master Blankenship was very knowledgable about all aspects of martial arts training and takes a genuine interest in the progress and well being of his students. I've never found a school or an instructor that incorporates the training of the body with the training of the mind, from combat and weapons styles to meditation and tai chi. This school has it all. The woman who claimed that Blankenship Martial Arts is "creepy and cult like" is an instructor at a competing martial arts school called Austin Chayon-Ryu. She obviously has no experience with meditation or the mental aspect of martial arts. And her conduct is disappointing to say the least. If she finds it necessary to slam her competitors in order to make her school look good, then she understands very little about the true nature of martial arts philosophy. more

Excellent School for People of All Abilities 11/4/2007

This school is both welcoming and inspiring. There is plenty of room for you to learn at your own pace, respecting your physical abilities. One of the most wonderful things about this school is that it is a place where people stay. They don't just get a black belt and leave. So there is not just Master Blankenship to teach you, but a large community of instructors. When I first started, I was paired up with one of the most senior instructors at each class. At 60-something, Master Blankenship is fit and strong, an extraordinary martial artist. And yet he speaks about what he is still learning. He shows that martial arts offers the chance to get better every day for the rest of your life. more

A True Martial Arts School 7/11/2005

You really feel like you are a part of the community here as soon as you step in the door. You easily become both a student and a teacher -- more a teacher as you advance belts of course. Master Blankenship is a very wise man and shares what he knows with everyone. There is no pressure here and everyone truly helps everyone else. You will make friends for life. Again, you know I love websites: http://www.blankenshipmartialarts.com/ more
