Fun Unique Gifts 5/13/2006

Black Ink is so appealling and unique it's hard to leave without acquiring something, even just a card. From the floor to the very high ceilings shelves are stacked with unusual items ranging from games, Japanese children's toys, urban gardening kits, books, bath products, bags, notebooks, Pyrex measuring/drinking glasses, and just plain silly little items. Prices range from the super-low to Quite High. The layout is a visual feast and everything is easy to touch. Also high end gift wraps, ceramics, etc. A more than passing nod to Japanese and European tastes. Also lovely and odd letterpress and small-press cards for all occasions. Very crowded and hard to navigate on weekends, so go early or feel oppressed. more

Black Ink Rocks! 4/18/2006

With home accessories and stationery from floor to ceiling, Black Ink is a haven for those of us that love to linger over beautiful little things. With two Boston area locations (Beacon Hill Boston and Harvard Square Cambridge), and a sister store, MUT in Cambridge, Black Ink delivers products dripping with sweetness, satisfaction wrapped in bright candy colors on every shelf. We loved their books, like my favorite, Japan Houses mixed in with yummy cards from egg press and snow + graham. If you're ever in Boston you can add this shop to your 'must shop' list. more

a truly original shop 4/13/2006

Such a cool shop! There is one in Harvard Square, and another on Beacon Hill. There are bins of original and unique greeting cards, which are a great alternative to Hallmark! The shelves are full of cool items from soaps, mugs, toys, maps, notebooks, etc. The prices can be a bit expensive, but if you often see items here that you cannot find elsewhere, so it can be worth the price! more

unique place 1/17/2006

Great store with a lot of unique stuff. If you visit Cambridge, you should go to this store, plenty of unique merchandise from kitchen stuff to stationary. It is only a small store, but it is really crowded during the weekend. A lot of people are checking out the new merchandise that they are selling. Buy something for your friends, family if you visit there. They will amazed. more

Quirkiness rules the day 8/12/2005

Harvard Sq. is known for its eccentricity and Black Ink certainly captures it. From collapsible frisbees to Asian cookbooks, this store carries it all. Come into the store and you will find a helpful and knowledgable staff that will assist you in your purchase of doohickeys and thingamabobs. Who doesn't need a chirping paper clip holder or frog shaped tape dispenser? Board games of all sorts, as well as greeting cards for all occassions. Gift wrap is available on request as well. Prices do run quite steep here, be ready to overspend if you're the type to splurge. more

need an odd gift 8/11/2005

I simply adore this store. There is such a strange collection of collectibles and just kitchy stuff. Merchandise is pile to the ceiling and there is stuff just everywhere. Some of the items here, just don't have any purpose.. Check out the china and glass wear in the back of the store. Parking is a nightmare and so is driving here. Right across from the train station. more
