Went to this place for the first time after having it recommended for its cinnamon rolls. We got 2 cinnamon rolls, a loaf of raisin nut bread, and a loaf of pumpkin bread. The bill came to $17 and some. The cinnamon rolls are whole wheat, which I was excited about, but they are filled with some kind of apple pie filling from a can that was pretty awful. Worse, the breads were terrible. I'm not sure I've met a pumpkin bread or raisin bread I didn't like before, but these would fit the bill. Tried eating the raisin bread as is and couldn't finish more than 2 bites, then gave it the benefit of the doubt by toasting and buttering it, and it's still tasteless and frankly just very stale. Wish we hadn't wasted our money. Maybe the restaurant is better, but the bakery wasn't worth the trip. Cons: stale bread, tasteless, pricey more

I am so sad to say this local landmark has gone downhill. I am willing to pay for exceptional food but the last few times we came here, the food was just average. Our bill today came to $28. I received a gift certificate for the restaurant.. They refused to honor the certificate because it said it was for dinner. They do not serve dinner until evening which we did not know when we went for an early dinner. I feel they should have honored the certificate anyway, thereby assuring future business from a satisfied customer. They just alienated a potential future customer. i go to this bakery/restaurant 3-4 times a month. its now the only place i eat breakfast. their omelette's are outstanding and always fluffy and perfectly cooked. they come with a side of perfectly crispy hash browns. the coffee they serve is delicious. the baked goods they offer are on the rustic side, but they are very delicious. Pros: very nice servers, ample parking, good food- good price Cons: bit of a wait on weekends. more

The view of Mt. Rainier is spectacular on a sunny day, and the short drive through ""old town"" one takes to get to The Bakery is almost enough. But the food is the topper. Try the sausage gravy on homecooked biscuits. Or the Bakery-cured smoked ham, either with fried eggs or as part of the excellent Eggs Benedict. The food is good and plentiful. The service is sometimes great and sometimes so-so. You can count on waiting at least 30 to 60 minutes on the weekends. Try the four by four for breakfast. Pros: good food Cons: too crowded more
