Had a bad experience 7/27/2007

Our water was never refilled, server dissappeared for large quantities of time, and the meal was nothing to brag about. The chicken I ordered tasted like a big chicken nugget from the freezer...very dissappointing after hearing goods things about this restaurant. The greeting at the door was nice and the burger my friend order was good. Pros: inside of restaurant very nice Cons: bad server, bad food more

romantic atmosphere 11/24/2006

This place is great for a nice night out in Tucson. The atmosphere is perfect for a relaxing meal, and the food was excellent. I highly recommend the thai chicken- so delicious! For a very filling two hour meal, we had an appetizer, glasses of wine, two entrees, shared a dessert, and a couple of after dinner drinks- all for about $75. We had no troubles with service or bland-tasting food, as suggested by other reviews. I would go back to the Firecracker in a heartbeat. more

great food 11/5/2006

This place is really really great. It has an awesome bar and its very romantic. The food is 5 star quality but its not overpriced. My favorite appatizer is the fried cream cheese puffs, omg they're fabulous. Pros: the food is excellent Cons: there might be a wait on a busy night more

Overpriced OK asian food with horrible service 11/4/2006

Although promp seating and an emaculate dining area Firecracker falls far short of being impressive. The waitress brought one persons drink at a time making it awkward to say the least. The drinks were all watered down leaving you to wonder if the place really had a bar to begin with. The food was bland at best. Maybe art is this restaurants specialty as the food looked great. And it JUST looked great. The waitress was rude commenting on a lousy tip based on lousy service. I would have much rather gone to PF Changs or Pei Wei. Pros: Good ambience Cons: Horrible service, bad food, overpriced for quality received more

We were impressed! 8/18/2006

We ate there on a Sat. night and the staff was very efficient and the atmosphere was nice. The restaurant became busy but we could still hear each other and it didn't seem too noisy. Our waiter was excellent and I ordered the Wasabi chicken and it was very good. The waiter warned me the dish was on the spicy side so he suggested having the sauce on the side...good suggestion since I'm a wimp at spicy stuff but the flavor was excellent. My husband had the Mongonlian Beef and it too was quite spicy and again the waiter suggested having it ""toned down"". The portions were very generous. We ordered Creme Brulee for dessert and were not disappointed, that too was very good. Definitely a nice restaurant for a couple or two couples to visit. Pros: Good food, good service more

Not worth the price. 5/11/2006

Went here with family late on a Saturday night. Were seated quickly. The ambience is nice, and the wonton soup was great. The entrees were sub-par. I have had much better at the little Chinese restaurants that are around the University. And for far less. The staff is hard to get ahold of - I had to ask for water refills 4 times before I got one. Just not worth the price. Pros: wonton soup, prompt seating Cons: everything else more

Romantic and intimate 12/3/2004

Great restaurant for a romantic date--not loud and noisy like PF Chang. Inventive menu and presentations. Reasonably priced. Plaza Palomino is now a nice retail setting for this restaurant. I love the complimentary won ton soup and the Unagi sushi. Pros: Intimate, Excellent food more

What a disappointment 8/2/2004

As a recent transplant to Tucson from San Francisco I was intriqued by the eye catching exterior of this restaurant. Drawn inside, I found a very hip, sassy decor. Imagine my disapointment when the food did not match the impressive venue. We ordered two appetizers (the ahi and the spicy chicken lettuce wraps) and split the crab stuffed roughy. The food was extremely bland and unexciting. They seem to have all of the right ingredients for a great restaurant but I think they need a new chef. On a positive note, the portions are quite generous (almost too much food) and the half price wine list is actually a great bargain. My $17 2001 Franciscan Cab was the highlight of the meal. Pros: Inexpensive, Ambience, Wine List more

Great Dish 5/7/2004

The service is great. The Won Ton soup and Wasabi stuffed chicken breasts are to die for. Pros: reasonably priced more

A Hidden Secret 12/7/2003

The food was excellent. I ordered the Japenese Steak and it was cooked to perfection. It was served with a tasty sauce and the presentation was artwork. For dessert, I ordered the creme brulee. It was to die for. The wine list was very extensive and reasonably priced. The staff at Firecracker was very friendly and even the manager visited our table to see how our dinner was. I would highly recommend this restaurant to everyone!!! Pros: FOOD, SERVICE, AMBIENCE Cons: NOTHING, NOTHING, NOTHING more

Fusion in the desert! 2/7/2003

If you're in the mood for some Asian fusion with good flavors and drinks this is the place. The lettuce wraps are a must. Good ambience and cool decor. more

Big flames little sparks 11/7/2002

My girlfriend and I went there and it was 30 min after they opened. They were clearly un prepared. We waited forever and when the food finaly got there in was not good we seriously didn't even finish it. The decoration was great exept for the seating. Note to the owner. Recover your chairs. They look like their second hand from a strip bar! EEEeeewww! (cool ceiling fans though) Pros: fire Cons: service, expencive, food more

Much better than PF Changs! 7/26/2002

Delicious! I would recommend this place to anyone. The food is great without the fatty meat you often get at pacific rim cuisine restaurants. Not necessarily the best choice in desserts, so if you want more than just dinner order any of their great wines and some Firecracker Shrimp. more

Firecracker Blew Me Away! 7/26/2002

I must admit, I went to this restaurant because of the torces out from and the fact that it is close to my house. My husband and I thought it might be fun and were totally blown away by how wonderful the food was. The wonton soup served before every meal is the best I've tasted and the actual entre was delicious. I had the shitake mushroom meatloaf, though I have had several others since then. My husband vouches for the crispy chicken. Their lettuce wraps are also excellent. The decor is very chic and the service is prompt and friendly. All in all, it's a great place to go! Pros: Great Food, Excellent Service, Atmosphere Cons: Parking, Make Reservations more
