I'm so glad I knew about Bishop's Salon when I decided to get my long hair cut. I scheduled an appointment with charming and savvy Mitzi, the owner. I am impressed, she transformed my long, one-length hair into rock-n-roll magic! This is the best hairstyle I have ever received. Bishops ranks in the upper echelon of Hair Salons for Nashville, Tn. more

Almost a year ago my stylist of eight years retired. I was destined to have frumpy hair, since I knew nobody could take my stylist's place. At the recommendation of a friend, I tried Bishop's Salon. In much need of a hair cut and highlights I plopped down in Matt's chair begging to be saved from my dingy looking locks. The next two hours were magical! Matt had me back in tip-top shape and I've been a loyal customer ever since! Matt will even be styling my hair for my up coming wedding. I trust his creative genius so much that when asked how I wanted my hair for the wedding, my response was ""whatever you think will look best."" Yup, he's that good! more

I have been a customer at Bishop's for a number of years. My stylist, Matt Smith, is fabulous! He really listens and offers his expert advice! I was just in there yesterday and I absolutely love my new style! more

Jessica Tritschler is my favorite stylist at Bishop's Salon. Jessica has a fresh perspective with new ideas but never compromises excellence in her color, cuts or treatments just to be trendy. Jessica's friendly manner and sweet spirit just add to the whole experience of being pampered and leaving fully pleased with the services she provides. more

Amazing salon where you ALWAYS have an amazing experience! I have been going to the stylist Matt for what seems like forever and it's always top notch. The staff is so professional and friendly. I wouldn't go anywhere else in the city! more

Wouldn't change for the world! I have been going to Mitzi every 6 weeks for over 10 years. She keeps my style current, my color perfect, and me very happy to manage my look. Over the years I have had numerous strangers comment on how great my hair looks, and ask where I have it done. What a compliment to Mitzi! The salon is lovely, everyone is professional and friendly, and I love the Aveda products. I highly recommend Bishop's Salon. Believe me, you will not be disappointed! more

FANTASTIC! I've been going to bishop's salon and day spa for the last few years and I must say I've had the best hair experiences of my life there thanks, first and foremost, to mitzi. Every member of staff that has rendered services to me there has done a great job as well. I travel far and out of my way just to get my hair done. Why? Because the end result is phenomenal. If you want to look and feel your best, you must try bishops. Everyone deserves to look and feel as good as I do when I leave bishops at least once in their life. I'm hooked so ill be going there as long as mitzi, melinda, dusty, or christopher are there. Period. more

This is a great salon. Been going here for about six years now and I absolutely love it. I drive about two hrs round trip and its worth it all. Mitzi is so good at everything she does. When you leave her shop you leave feeling so good and satisfied more

I've been going to Mitzi for years. She understands a girls crown and glory. I think she rocks on medium to short hair. She explains why she colors or highlight a haircut. I do believe blondes are her specialty but that's just me. Mine has always been bright and perfect. I would recommend her salon. As of lately I have seen her train some new really creative stylist. Great prices too. \r \r Jody more

I've been working for Mitzi since I've been out of beauty school. It is because of her training and education that I am the stylist I have become today. Having worked for Mitzi for about six years now, I have been able to be a part of such a great team. Her talent and guidance have been the reason why her salon is such a success, and I'm proud to have been part of it for so long. \r \r If you are looking for a team of dedicated and extremely talented stylists, come check out Bishop's. \r \r I will truly miss Mitzi and the salon team since I will be going off to school for natural medicine soon. You guys will always be my family. Love you all! \r \r <3 Anna more

Devastating! 4/24/2012

Four weeks ago, I went to Mitzi's Salon to get my hair colored, some highlights and a trim. I left with about 1/4 less hair. Over the next week I continued to lose even more hair. Maybe I should begin at the beginning. For two years I have been going to another Salon, the person who did my hair has moved out of state. I decided to go to Mitzi. I jokingly felt good about being able to afford her services. If you've been to Bishops and have sat in Mitzi's chair, you know it's a bit disconcerting that she looks at herself more than she looks at her hair. The last two times I have been in the Salon, there has been massive turmoil with Stylists crying and her taking time away from her client to go talk to someone not doing a good enough job. I would tell you to be prepared to wait an eternity as well. Four hours for my grey to be covered, some highlights and a trim. Not one time, every time...but I want to save you from that. I am not quite sure exactly what happened and she has texted me two different explanations. Here's what I've been able to piece together. She put three times the normal amount of foil, applied bleach all the way down the hair and sat me under the dryer. She admits about 7 minutes too long. I had hair breaking off when she went to cut it. When I said, What is this?! Why is my hair falling out?! She proceeded to tell me it wasn;t, that I just needed some Damage Remedy (a product) Um....I don't have damaged hair...The first time I came, I wondered why my hair seemed so dry. This second time, It's amazing I left with any hair. The front and sides of my hair are fried. I have three large ""holes"" in the top of my head where that hair just fell out completely. I know it may sound a bit shallow, but I have truly been devastated. I feel ugly. I look terrible. I cannot believe the answer to my hair for the next six months is cool hair, no heat, hats and time. How do you think that feels for someone to take that from you? She was kind enough to send me a refund. However, there is not a price tag for what she took from me. I have spent $150 on protein packs, I'm wearing hats, I paid someone to style it for a work event and today I had three inches cut off and was consoled by a Professional hair stylist that it would just take time. This woman does not ever need to have her hands in another person's hair. RUN! I am not kidding! I will post pictures so you can see my before and afters. more

My experience 3/19/2011

I went out one Saturday on a mission to find a place to get my hair cut. I stopped at several places, including a new one in Belle Meade (can't recall the name but near the French Shoppe) where there was no one there.....very weird. Walked in.....no one at the check-in table.....no one in the chairs. Deserted. I called out, ""Hello"" several times but.....*crickets chirping* nothing. I got a very uneasy feeling so left in a hurry. more

Mitzi 3/13/2011

I had my hair done with the owner and I will never forget this horrible experience!!! I went from a beautiful blonde and just wanted some depth in my hair. I asked for golden highlights (and told her to stay warm that I hated cool tones) and she turned my hair to a dark ash-grey hue. I was completely mortified and crying and she demanded that I pay for the service after I told her I was going somewhere else to get it corrected. If she had already messed up that bad I didn't trust her to fix it! She was very rude and inconsiderate and humiliated me in front of everyone. I will never forget her unprofessional behavior and have nothing nice to say about her! more

Thanks Bishop's Salon and Day Spa! 2/15/2011

My husband and I were lucky enough to win a head to toe makeover at Bishop's Salon. My husband and I were welcomed at the door and treated royally during our stay. Amy and Caitlyn did our cuts and Matt highlighted and styled my hair. Amy and Matt worked together to get just the right style for me and Caitlyn was very kind to my husband who was a little hesitant about the makeover! Daisy worked to tame my husband's unruly eyebrows and did a terrific job on my brows and makeup! Everyone made us feel right at home and Matt even returned before our appearance on Talk of the Town on his day off to style my hair! Everyone was professional, friendly and especially considerate. Thank you Bishop's Salon. more

Cost .... WOW 7/21/2010

Here's the issue: Have been going there for a while. Had been using a junior stylist, due to the cost and they are generally good cuts. (Have used three juniors.) So called back and made an appointment. Prices before were $24-27, so when I got to the counter to pay and was told it was now $40 BEFORE tip. Imagine my surprise. I ask them if it was a mistake, they said no that the junior I had used had been promoted. Now I think, good for this stylist, he deserves it, but to go from just over $20 to $40 before tip, I am not sure I can afford to go with the economy the way it is. So, I go home, call back from a cell phone that they do not have on file, and ask if the person who did my hair was a junior or .... and they say no, he's moved up 4 spots. So I ask them HOW someone moves up 4 spots in a small period of time, and they tell me that it's based on 2 weeks of sales. Once the stylist gets 2 weeks of consecutive good sales of PRODUCT they get promoted. I have an issue with this. They are supposed to be providing you with a service, which you should pay on based on service, not based on PRODUCT. My advice - you can go here if you want a junior stylist, but always ask if they are still a junior, and if not STAY AWAY. They are going to try and sell you product that you may or may not need just so they can get promoted. I want to find a place that you pay for the service and not how much hairspray they can sell. Pros: cuts are generally good. Cons: you pay based on how much your stylist can SELL more

What a great salon!!!! 12/8/2009

so..... i had a friend that raved about her stylist to me for over a year. i finally went and i am so glade i did! Melissa is my new stylist! i think she is just the sweetest thing on earth. She made me fell so welcome. She was out going and i can tell not only did she know what she was doing, she loves doing it to! i got the best highlights i've ever had and the cut was just what i wanted. She listened! i feel like she really worked with me and i am so thankful for that. Also i saw Daisy for a brow wax. Again so sweet and she did a great job. ill be seeing her soon for a facial. i cant say enough about bishops, everyone was great. Pros: melissa Cons: none! more

Do NOT let them near your face! 4/5/2009

This is a nice place to get your hair done, but whatever you do, do not get a facial. Friends and I have all had break outs after a facila there. It was dirty. There as hair all over the sheets and blankets, the towel was dirty, the room was dirty....ewwwww!!! Pros: nice enough staff Cons: dirty, terrible facial staff more

Do yourself a favor by going to Bishop's Salon 8/15/2008

Bishop's is the best salon in Nashville!!! When you enter the salon you are greeted by a group of wonderful young women at the front desk who can help you with the wide variety of services offered by the salon. more

Favorite Salon 8/4/2008

I have been going to Bishop's salon the past 8 months. I enjoy the environment and it is the first time I have gone solely to one place for service. I specifically go there to have Matt as my stylist. I met him when I went into the Beauty Institute for a hair cut and new style change. He was the one that did the cut and I've gone to him since...following him from school to salon. As long as he and I both live in the Nashville area I will never go to anyone else. I have very frustrating hair and it's usually really difficult for me to find a style that makes me feel good. However, he was able to find something that suits my personality and makes me feel more confident. Pros: People, parking, environment, Cons: Can be a little expensive, but they have a variety of price ranges. more
