Fun! 1/6/2006

This is a great place to spend the day, especially if you love exotic animals (but why would you go to the zoo if you didn't?). They have several interesting exhibits (elephants, snakes, monkeys, you name it), as well as some great interactive ones for the kids (an example would be the petting zoo). They make sure to keep it neat and clean, which is always a very good and important thing when it comes to a zoo. more

The Zoo!!! 10/12/2005

The Birmingham Zoo is so much fun for people of all ages. They have so many different and beautiful animals. It is in a very nice part of town and is right by Botanical Gardens. The park is nicely spaced out and the prices are not bad at all. The staff is always so very nice and they are always teaching lessons to the cutomers. They have wonderful Wildlife Shows, too. The also have Zoolite Safari in December when the entire park is decorated with christmas lights inside out! It is a lot of fun. more

Fun zoo in Bham 8/16/2005

I have been to the zoo many times since I was a kid. The animals here look all happy, of course that is dependant on who you talk to. I suppose running in the jungle would be better, but since they are here I love to watch them go about daily life as if I wasnt there. The caretakers often feed, water, and groom them while you watch which is really interesting to me. They also have food and gift shops for the human animals paying their visits to the site. There are also botanical gardens across the street which are equally nice to visit. more

Slowly getting better 8/14/2005

The Birmingham Zoo used to be a premiere zoo in the Southeast. However, it slowly deteriorated and lost its acceditation. However, in the last 5-10 years, it has slowly began to improve with new exhibits and closing old worn down exhibits. While it will never be as big as the Atlanta Zoo and host exiciting exhibits such as the pandas, it remains a family-friendly environment that kids will always love. more

Animals everywhere... 8/10/2005

I have been going to the Birmingham Zoo since before I could even talk. When I was little I thought that it was just the coolest place ever, but now that I am older and have actually been to other zoos in cities such as Atlanta and New York City, I am aware that the conditions of the Birmingham Zoo are not all that great. I don't mean that the animals are being mistreated, I just mean that their habitats are outdated and could probably use enlarging. It's a cool place to go if you have never been, but if you are a big time zoo fan then you're not going to be impressed. The zoo is a great place for children though, there are lots of childrens activites, and from time to time there are animals that you can pet. more
