cute place 11/15/2005

If you are looking for a massive variety of sea creatures, you will be highly disappointed by this place. This aquarium is small, probably the smallest I've ever been to. That being said, if you are bored, this is a good, interesting place to spend a few hours. The seahorse exhibit is the most unique part of the exhibit. And one that you probably won't see at any other aquarium. They have a huge seahorse exhibit, displaying a huge variety of different types of seahorses. They also breed seahorses. So you can see a display of seahorses starting from only a couple weeks old to adulthood. The cost is relatively cheap. About 9 dollars a person. more

A great place for the entire family 10/23/2005

I have always loved going to the aquarium. It is a great way to spend the day, or even a few hours. It is great to get away and explore all the different parts of aquatic life. I love going with a group, since everyone is always amazed and pointing out stuff that I would normally miss if I was on my own. more

Good, but Monterrey stil rules 9/8/2005

The Birch Aquarium is wonderful and children especially will enjoy it. It's also a great value for your money. But if you've been to the Monterey Bay Aquarium, you may be a bit disappointed. Still, if you don't feel like driving 8 hours, or if you're vacationing in San Diego, make certain you stop by. And take your time. Even though it's small, there really is a lot to see. more

Learning and fun 8/4/2005

This is a great place to take a youngster on a hot day. It is covered and cool near the beach. I like to take my baby there because it is protected from the sun rays and because she just LOVES those fish. We can spend hours in front of just one tank watching the fish go around. They have an extensive collection of fish. I was very impressed bu their educational focus. This would be a great place to take a girl scout troop or class field trip as well. more

Beautiful Fish From All Over the World! 8/3/2005

Aquariums are my favorite type of museum to visit. This aquarium has many tanks of beautiful fish, ugly fish, scary fish and plenty of other sea life. They also have good explanations of the fish and the areas the fish can be found in. The most interesting thing I learned is that the red snapper we eat at restaurants is actually vermillion rockfish. I was born in a city called Vermillion and it is a song by a band I like. Right now they have a shark exhibit but I didn't think it was nearly as good as the rest of the aquarium. And of course they have the requisite tide pools where everyone can touch sea stars. more
