Sasquatch spotting 3/18/2010

This is one of my favorite bar in the city! There is always a big crowd, but I enjoy it because I always meet new people (mostly hot guys so I don't hate it). Bigfoot is always my go-to bar if I make last minute plans. Pros: Bigfoot, good bartenders, good music Cons: Can get easily crowded, bar narrow more

Only YOU Can Prevent Forest Fires! 2/5/2010

Do you remember playing with Lincoln Logs? Did you ever wish you had a Smokey the Bear action figure with Kung Fu grip? Have you ever dreamed of jackalopes running swiftly through a forest fire? Well, then. The Bigfoot Lodge is for you! Sit back, relax, and have a girl scout--er--cookie. Enjoy the signature drink, Sasquatch, while gazing lovingly at the gynormous foam-core namesake (which looks to be idly moving to scratch his rear). Newly installed flat screens have the bar opening early in the morning on Sundays for ""game watching."" (Regulars snarkily call this an attempt to stay afloat during the Recession - It's NOT a sports bar). Just remember kids, the Bigfoot is a delicate flower (lovingly duct taped in several areas if you look close) - so no matter what your dubious friends convince you to do under the influence of a cocktail that will put hair on your chest - don't climb on him. Seriously. You'll forever be known as ""that guy who *violated* the 'Squatch."" Pros: Great Bartenders; An actual Happy Hour Cons: Marina crowd + Bridge/Tunnel Fri and Sat nights more

Great Place! 12/18/2008

You can't beat the Bigfoot Lodge for strong drinks. It's a great neighborhood bar right on Polk Street.\r more

BIGFOOT LODGE 6/11/2007

Hip and Happening Little Venue. my girl and I got to experience this place twice. We found it as wandering tourists out on a weeknight, and returned on a busy weekend. \r \r This place doesn't showcase live music but they had some kind of IPOD game. You submit it and they play your tunes until some one ""gongs it"". If you get away with 25 minutes w/ out being ""gonged"" you get a free drink. \r \r Late night weekends are crowded. That night feature d a killer rock&roll show, where this crazy mexican psychobilly bartender literally lights the bar on fire, dancing around to the tune of GNR's welcome to the jungle. It was an Awesome show in itself! Some of the regulars told me this was a typical weekend. Appearantly this place hires rockstars... that are also fast and friendly. \r in the hetero/CustomerService- atypical SFrisco kind of way) \r \r \r The place has no food, BYO seemed to be acceptable. I wolfed down some righteous fish tacos from \r nearby Nicks Crispy Tacos in plain sight of the barkeep w/out complaint. \r \r Their selection of single malts was limited, so I explored a couple of their house specialties. The Sasquatch is an aptly named monstrosity that's a definite B-ng for the Buck. Its a palletable kick in face. \r Out of curioustiy I tried my girlfriends ""girl scout cookie"" another creative house specialty. twas A mint choclaty girly drink served in a martini glass. \r Props for aesthetics, creativity a drinkability.\r \r \r Props on atmoshere and style. Hip Kitchy- 1950's camp lodge, retro kind of style. Female bartenders wear cute girlscout outfits. The lighting accentuates the wood log cabiny interior while making it comfortable and intimate. \r \r Respect their landmark Sasquatch in the back. I was told Molesting it can get you 86'ded.\r \r . All in all a good experience. Well priced, Excellent music. \r ............. Pros: good service/ good prices/ unique ambience and entertainment value Cons: need better selection of single malts/ no food more

Great idea! 6/14/2006

Who knew? This place is fun to go to when you don't want to be surrounded by guys in crisp, collared shirts. Drinks are cheap, music is good, but it is kind of small.\r \r Quirky little neighborhood bar. Pros: Cheap drinks, good music. Cons: Small. more

Best. Bartenders. Ever. 1/9/2006

I really can't say enough about this place. I love each and everyone of the bartenders, the regulars rock, and the music is fantastic. I agree that it is sometimes best to stay away on the weekends, depending on your mood, but if you do that, you will miss them lighting the bar on fire. If you go, ask Abel for a Montana Red. See you by the pool, Spence. Pros: Bartenders, Regulars, Music/Fire Cons: not enough tp more

Wow 9/20/2004

Hmmm. The review, like most from this SF citysearch writer, is staid, stylistically dry and really boring. Who uses the rather weak term ""kooky"" in a bar review anyway? Anyway, this liquor-laden lodge does resemble an eerie ""Twin Peaks"" episode, and, after about six of their strong drinks, your night will no doubt become just as confusing as well as unforgettable. Beware weekends: the crowds seem to have found their favorite Polk Gulch haunt. Unless, of course, you don't mind rubbing elbows (and other protruding body parts) with a friendly stranger. more

Bigfoot Rocks! 9/2/2004

Great atmosphere, stiff drinks and great tunes from the DJs. What more can you ask for? If you haven't been I would recommend adding a trip with friends to Bigfoot on your ""to do"" list. Pros: Friendly crowd, Pretty people, Stiff drinks more

Pleasantly Surprised 8/15/2004

Great Music, Great Drinks, Great Designs. Feel like your not in the big city. Pros: Good Parking, Hot Girls, Great Design more

Rockin Bar 8/9/2004

My girlfriends and I had a blast here. The bartenders rocked, and made us all crazy shots with secret names. I highly recommend. Pros: Bartenders, drinks, interior more
