Best

This place rules. Great beer, mellow staff and patrons, a couple tvs, a shuffleboard table, a few dark booths in the back. Prime Time Pale Ale is my #1beer. Pros: beer, food...

Worst

The pizza at the Big Time Brewery is gross! They don't have that many toppings, and the crust is rubbery. Pros: not very crowded;, sandwiches are good, staff is friendly Co...

Complete Beer Selection 2/28/2009

Love this place. First place I went when I turned 21, I'm big into beers. They have lots of different house beers for any mood. The food is ok, but its more for just something to munch on than something to go there for. It's all about the beers so make sure your group likes the real deal. Prices are average, but the beer is good. The music is a little too "ragey" at times but I really enjoy this place. more

The Best.... 12/26/2007

This place rules. Great beer, mellow staff and patrons, a couple tvs, a shuffleboard table, a few dark booths in the back. Prime Time Pale Ale is my #1beer. Pros: beer, food, staff Cons: It closes at night more

Great pizza and beer. Open late. 7/19/2007

Nice and simple bar. You order yourself and bring your own drinks and food to the table, like in bars in Europe. If you're eating, i would recommend the pizza which is excellent. We also tried the chilli but it was avarage at best and came with some strange garlic bread. Better to just focus on the pizza... The beers are good too and the atmosphere is nice. Pros: Great pizza, good beer. Cons: other foods are so-so more

Super excellent in every respect: Value, Service, Taste 2/8/2007

I'm a regular at Big Time and whoowee, lemme tell ya, the food is terrific! I've tried most of their sandwiches and every one has been a pleaser. I recommend getting the special--especially if it's the Teriyaki Chicken. The beer is all full-flavored, though most of them are IPAs lately. The best part of all (this is the college student's budget speaking here) is that you can get a ton and a half of food for under ten bucks. A half sandwich typically will only run you about 5-6. A combo of full sandwich, cup chili/soup, chips, corn bread or garlic bread, and a beer will float maybe just a couple over the ten dollar mark with tax. For a meal on the Ave., Big Time can't be beat! more

Willing to Drive 50 miles 5/27/2005

I love Bigtime!!! I drive from Tacoma just to grab a couple of beers on the weekends. The staff is great and highly knowledgeable. I just wish they'd send their beer to T-Town.... Pros: Great Beer, Great Service, Good food Cons: 1 hour street parking more

Great Beer 6/13/2004

All the beer is great and brewed on premesis. If you go during the day, you can even get a tour of the brewery. The food is decently priced, but nothing outstanding. The pizza is inconsistant, but when it is good, it's some of the best pizza in Seattle. A great place to go with a big group of people, or just by yourself. Pros: great beer, great service, great staff more

Good beer, food average at best 12/23/2002

Go for the beer, have the food if you're really hungry. It's not bad, just average at best. Very plain. Pizza can be good, depending on how long they've had the dough sitting out. It's hit or miss. Pros: Great beer, Shuffleboard table Cons: Average food, No vodka more

Good Pizza, Good Beer...Good Times 9/26/2002

The Big Time is my new place...the pizza is quite tasty, and cheap as well! The beer is at a wonderful price ($2.75 - $3.25 per pint), and is excellent. Some are better than others, but it is hard to beat their Coal Creek Porter, Big Time Pale, SnowMelt Pale on Nitro and Decade IPA. The people are friendly, free shuffleboard is always a plus, and the music on Tuesday nights (String Cheese Incident - Live Shows) is the coolest out of any Seattle bars. Cheers to the Big Time. Pros: Inexpensive, Cheap Eats and Drinks, Good Music Cons: Occasional Frat Boys, Dark Smoking Area more

The pizza ain't all that 9/6/2002

The pizza at the Big Time Brewery is gross! They don't have that many toppings, and the crust is rubbery. Pros: not very crowded;, sandwiches are good, staff is friendly Cons: beer is okay more

Editorial

  • In Short
Nestled on the south end of the Ave, Big Time's antique bar, vintage beer signs and wood floors give it a turn-of-the-century feel. A steady flow of all stratum of UW affiliates circulates, from coeds to profs. Safe college standards play on the jukebox. Ten of their own brews are on tap, with selection varying depending on the season, and the student-priced menu is stocked with standard pub fare: pizza, sandwiches and salads.
